The holiday meal is easy to plan from start to finish all using your pellet grill if you want to; however, most of us typically will prepare some foods traditionally while using our pellet grill for something like Pellet Grill Smoked Turkey or Smoked Macaroni and Cheese.
Using the pellet grill to cook a frozen turkey or fresh whole turkey, may be the best way to make a juicy bird, it comes out so well and is so easy to make with or without turkey brine.
While these are some of the top recipes for the pellet grill, did you know that you can also make an apple pie on your pellet grill? It may be one of our all-time favorites!
What type of wood pellets should you use in your pellet grill?
A variety of pellets can be used in your pellet grill. We almost always use a blend of pellets; however hickory is wonderful to use on a variety of recipes too.
If you are planning to do an apple pie, using apple pellets will truly enhance the flavor, it will just melt in your mouth when you bite into that pie! The apple wood pellets give the apple pie a delicious smoky flavor but with hints of all the sweetness too.

What do you need when preparing your Pellet Grill Thanksgiving Recipes?
Always have a digital thermometer on hand when preparing foods in the pellet grill or you can also use the temperature probe that is typically with the pellet grill.
Of course, this is mostly needed for meats to be sure they are at the optimal temperature; however, it also works well to check on foods like apple pie to be sure it’s fully cooked.
Next, I suggest having a cast iron skillet on hand as well. This pan will be used for a variety of recipes including mashed potatoes.
Lastly, it’s also good to have an aluminum pan on hand for a variety of recipes or a roasting pan, I’d suggest having several disposable aluminum pans handy. These work well for serving turkey and other foods too.
What Thanksgiving recipes should you make in the pellet grill?
Of course, the Thanksgiving turkey may be the most important item to make on the grill, but here is a list of many more great ones to try!
- Smoked Turkey
- Sweet Potatoes
- Pumpkin Pie

Using the pellet grill is a wonderful way to prepare dinner this holiday season; however, be sure to account for the cooking process and cooking time when preparing your dinner. Many recipes do take a bit longer on the pellet grill because they are being cooked low and slow to fully cook the meats.
This is a great way to prepare a holiday meal, maybe the best way in my opinion.
