We are just a few days away from the official start of fall, and I need this weather to get the hint and start to change! I’m ready for fall weather, fall food, and of course hoodies…lots of hoodies.
Fall is my favorite season, I love all that it brings with it and after a very long, hot summer here in Oklahoma I am more than ready. I am sure I say these every single year, but I really do not remember a summer that has been so hot lately, even the bugs seem to have grown this summer too.
This is the first year we’ve had huge horse flies too. It’s just been a long summer and it’s time for a new season. Isn’t it funny how we are typically so ready for the next season?
That leads me to these fall comfort recipes, perfect for this upcoming season.
In the midst of that comes fall comfort foods. This year, I’m focusing on trying to incorporate some healthier comfort foods, but of course, some are just necessary for the fall. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to make healthy food especially if you stick to real foods too.
I’ll go ahead and tell you these aren’t all healthy, but they are delicious!

If it calls for flour, I always use Better Batter All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour. I do write menu plans for them; however, their flour truly is the best and is a 1:1 switch with any recipe that calls for flour such as this wonderful Pumpkin Bread.
Should you serve chili with Cornbread or Fritos?
I thought I’d put this question out there because this is the ongoing debate in our home each fall. Chili is, of course, the most common fall comfort food recipes, but which should you serve it with, Cornbread or Fritos?
My husband loves his chili paired with Fritos, but I have to say I’m a cornbread and chili person. I grew up with cornbread and chili and it has just stuck. My kids though seem to love my husband’s version with Fritos.
Do you have a favorite fall food? I’m also hoping to try out a few more recipes using Butternut Squash too. I’m anxious to cook that up with a few other veggies.
