Become your own Barista with this list of the best coffee drink recipes!
Are you ready to become a barista? It really does not take much skill to make coffee drinks at home. They are actually quite simple and have the same basic ingredients over and over.
- Milk
- Coffee
- Flavoring
Repeat!
The same general concept can be used for almost any coffee drink with the exception of a few. Even drinks like macchiatos are the same just added into the cup in a different order.
How do I know?!
I have worked in a coffee shop somewhere for nearly 25 years. I’m that old. I have made so many coffee drinks over the years and I still remember the first time I walked into my first shift at the coffee shop…completely overwhelmed!
A co-worker made me flash cards of all the drinks but shortly after I realized you really can make the drinks the same way nearly every time and usually all that’s changing is the flavoring. The methods are typically very similar.
Tips for Making the Best Coffee Drink Recipes at Home!
- Coffee Ice Cubes – Coffee Ice Cubes have become increasingly popular over the years, basically, it’s freezing brewed coffee in ice cube trays and using them as “ice” for your iced coffees. This way as the ice melts your drink is not going to be watered down. This is a fantastic idea, just remember you may have stronger coffee than you had planned since most of us are used to having ice (water) meltdown in our iced drinks, not coffee.
- Choose the Right Coffee – If you want your drink to match a strong espresso at Starbucks then you will need a dark roast coffee or espresso. There are specific machines to make espresso too, such as this espresso machine. Other alternatives are simply using a lighter roast, brewed coffee, or Cold Brew.
- Milk Matters – There are a variety of dairy and non-dairy options these days and they will affect how your drink turns out. If you are used to a creamy drink with whole milk, then when you swap it for Oat Milk it is going to taste different. Oat Milk is more watery than whole dairy milk. While I actually like Oat Milk better, you may not. So be sure to remember that your milk choices will change things.
Each of these tips will help you make some great coffees at home along with this HUGE list of recipes.
I have also added in a few hot chocolate recipes, because there are always those friends of ours that just can’t stand the taste of coffee, right? So I’ve added a few recipes for them too!
