The fall weather is finally starting to settle in here in Oklahoma, I sure do hope we get a little snow this winter too.
We haven’t had a good snowfall here in likely 4-5 years now. It’s always a dusting and gone in an hour. I want some great snow to go sledding in. We even live by good hills for sledding and still no snow.
I blame the snowsuits. I bought the kids snowsuits YEARS ago because of the one year we had a huge snowfall, I decided they would be good to have.
The literally sat in the closet for 4 years until I finally decided, given they were many sizes too small, it was time to get rid of them.
I was so excited that we would finally be prepared if it would snow…then 4 years of nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
The first year we moved into our house, we had a good snowfall and it was magical to say the least.
We live in the country, so from our back windows, we watched the deer come up and feed off deer corn that was left out in the middle of this snow falling down.
It was so beautiful, and I am ready to see that again.
My daughter hardly even remembers what it’s like to play in snow, how sad is that? She was 1 when we had a large snowfall, so really she hasn’t seen much at all.
I don’t even think we’ve used maybe any snow days in years either. That says a lot too because schools around here close for a dusting. That means we haven’t even had a dusting.
It’s time for a good snowfall.
I guess first we have to get through fall, but I would be fine with an early snowfall too!
In the meantime, soup and chili is now a regular item on our menu and probably will be for a while now.
My husband usually ends up burned out on chili and soup sometime around December, but he’ll have to deal with it because the rest of us love it! Do you?
I could soup and chili year round, as could my kids most days.
I really love a good tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. That reminds me of college years and a great little shop that served it near campus.
It was so wonderful and warm on a cold day. I actually should venture there again with the kids. It’s only 45 minutes away and I’ve never taken the kids there.
How is that? I really should, it is so tasty!
What’s your favorite soup, stew, or chili for the fall?
