Get ready to enjoy some time with the family with Make Your Own Pizza Family Night!
Did you know that you can easily do a fun family night at home and on a budget?
We do them ALL the time. Granted sometimes it’s a little extra work, as opposed to going out for a family night…but the whole family ALWAYS loves it.
My kids got so excited when I told them that we were going to have a Make Your Own Pizza Family Night.
I decided to make the pizza dough, then I had all the toppings laid out in a pizza bar style for them to top the pizzas as they wanted.
Not only did my kids love this but my husband and I did too.
It actually reminded us of those years before we had kids. We used to do homemade pizzas quite a bit when we were first married. My husband loved to make different designs with his pizza. This time, he went with a smiley face.
What do you need for a Make Your Own Pizza Family Night?
- Pizza Dough
- Pizza Pans
- Extra Flour
- Rolling Pin
- Canadian Bacon
- Black Olives
- Pizza Sauce
- Additional Toppings of Choice
Essentially, you simply need all the different toppings that your family LOVES so that you can have a little pizza topping bar.
What type of dough do you use?
In our household we make gluten free pizza dough. I always use this Gluten Free Pizza Crust recipe from King Arthur Flour. Although, I use this recipe, I use Better Batter Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. I will say that I have done this with regular flour as well, and it has always worked. It’s very simple to make your own pizza dough from scratch.
Which box brand pizza dough can you use?
There are many store brand as well at most retailers. I know that Walmart also offers a Great Value Gluten Free Pizza Dough Mix as well. These are great options if you need something quick and may not have time to grab the dough.
I do think it’s more fun for the kids to get to roll the dough and top the pizza instead of buying premade crust, but that’s also an option as well.
What are some Pizza Recipe Ideas?
My kids really wanted to make an Ice Cream Pizza. We had to go in more of a dinner direction, but next time we may do a Make Your Own Dessert Pizza Night! I think that would be fun for the family as well.
What else can you do on Make Your Own Pizza Family Night?
After everyone makes their pizzas, enjoy a movie night or game night with the family. This is such a fun, inexpensive way to spend time together as a family.
We may start making this a regular Friday or Saturday night dinner once Football season ends because they had such a fun time with it.
Happy Family Night!
