Enjoy the flavors of fall with this Ninja Foodi Apple Crisp that is also easy to make gluten-free too.
We have so many desserts that we truly love during the fall, so it’s only fitting that I revisit our apple crisp recipe and adapt it to a Ninja Foodi Recipe.
This Ninja Foodi Apple Crisp is ready to serve in 40 minutes and brings all the flavors of fall into one delicious dessert.
Is this recipe made in the pressure cooker?
No, it is not made using the pressure cooker function. This apple crisp is going to be made using the bake function in the Ninja Foodi. That means if you are using an Instant Pot, you’ll likely want to use this Instant Pot Apple Crisp recipe that would use the pressure cooker function.
If you prefer to make this in the oven, you can make this Oven-Baked Gluten-Free Apple Crisp instead.
This recipe is going to be specific to the Ninja Foodi using the ‘bake’ function.
What type of apples should you use for apple crisp?
We prefer to use Honeycrisp Apples for this recipe they are sweet and crunchy which really does well in this apple crisp. The baking process softens them a bit but it does not turn them to mush, which is exactly what you want.
Should you peel the apples?
This is going to come down to merely a preference, my husband and I like the peel on the apple it brings flavor and a nice texture to the apple crisp too but I do not necessarily want the peel on every apple. I peel about half of the apples, sometimes a little less.
Let’s face it…peeling them gets old so sometimes I get lazy. My kids prefer to have them all peeled but they are slowly understanding why it’s better with half and half.
Do you need any special pans to make Apple Crisp in the Ninja Foodi?
This is going to be made right inside the pot of the Ninja Foodi, so no special pans are needed. I find the bottom cooks nicely if you use just the pot of the Ninja Foodi.

Oh my goodness! I am excited I found your site just from the title! I would rather clean than cook and any shortcuts in the kitchen are highly appreciated! I saw your post on the Lou Lou Girls Link up—thanks for sharing! I will have to try this gf apple crisp.
Haha…I can relate! 🙂 You will love this, thanks so much for stopping by!
Can I use regular flour in the same quantity? Thanks
Yes, the regular flour will work the exact same way.
Is it ok to use granny smith apples and add more sugar? And can u double the recipe for the topping so u have extra toppings?
I’ve never done it with these modifications, so it would be up to you with trying it. I would imagine though it would work out fine.
We doubled it and it didn’t cook well… had to cover with foil to not burn before done cooking…. some of the toppings didn’t really cook. I think there is not enough real estate to completely cook double the toppings.
What’s the best way to get it out of the pot without ruining the crispy top?
I just scoop it out with a spatula.
Excellent! Big hit, especially with my mother in law who’s gluten intolerant. I would add more of the crumble topping next time.
I used coconut sugar instead of white sugar and almond flour instead of all-purpose flour (and I halved everything in the topping) and it was really good!! The ninja foodie is the best thing ever!! Thank you 🙂
So glad to hear that. I agree I love this thing!
Recipe says bake…ninja does not have this option. Is roast the same
Yes, mine says “bake/roast”, so I would go with the roast function.
Can you substitute apple pie filling instead of fresh apples?
You can, it may alter the cook time so I’d check on it at 1/2 the cooking time.
Would the recipe be the same with the ninja foodie grill?
It should work the same for the grill. I haven’t tried it in the grill though just the multi-cooker. You’d probably need to use a pan if using the grill.
I made this dish yesterday in a ninja foodi 6.5 .
It tasted great . The crisp topping was like a huge buttery delicious oatmeal cookie . the apples however were more dried out and spongy chewy . I added more water throughout the cooking process as I could see the apples were suffering a little .. ..I’m new to ninja world..I will try this once more without putting any flour in the apples .
It is SO good! The apples were more crisp than I like, can I just add some baking time to soften them up?
Yes, you can add more time just watch the top to be sure it doesn’t get too crisp on top, you can stir it up some to avoid that too.
I have a ninja foodie , theres no bake function on it. what setting did you use?
I believe on some it says ‘roast’.
It’s fall and time for apple crisp! I usually bake a traditional apple crisp in the oven. Used the Ninja bake feature for this recipe and normal flour. Turned out great! Loved it.
Hi can I use a 9×13 pan in my foodie to make apple crisp and should I put foil over the pan so it will not burn and how long should I air bake it? Thank you for your help…
I haven’t done this one with the 9×13, so you can try it but would need to just watch the cook times. I usually don’t foil cover mine.
Could I do this in the foodi pan?
Yes, but times may need to be adjusted.
Topping browned and was about to burn 20 minutes into cooking. Apples were totally undercooked. Followed instructions and used air crisp lid at 350 degrees per instructions. Do you need to cover with foil midway or is our new Foodi defective?
You do use the air crisp lid but you use the “bake” function, did you use this function or did you use the “air crisp” function?
