Make the BEST Ninja Foodi Shepherd’s Pie, this is a wonderful comfort meal that can easily be made gluten-free too!
This comfort meal is one of our all-time favorites in the winter months and is also known as Cottage Pie.
This post will take you through how to make Ninja Foodi Shepherd’s Pie using the Ninja Foodi Multi-Cooker. This recipe is going to use the Pressure Cooker Function, Saute Function, and Air Crisp Function. That means your machine must have each of these to prepare this recipe.
How do you make Gluten-Free Ninja Foodi Shepherd’s Pie?
The only swap needed to make this gluten-free is the flour. This can easily be made with gluten-free all-purpose flour which is an even 1:1 swap.
I use Better Batter Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour, but King Arthur and Cup 4 Cup work well too.
How should you prepare the mashed potatoes?
The mashed potatoes will be prepared using the pressure cooker function, then you can season them as you wish or you can use these Ninja Foodi Mashed Potatoes to follow for the seasoning amounts.
Tips for Making Ninja Foodi Shepherd’s Pie:
This recipe does have multiple steps starting with preparing the mashed potatoes.
At that point, you will then move on to the saute function to prepare the beef along with the remaining meat and vegetables of the dish.
At the end of the sauteing time, then the mashed potatoes will be added back. These need to be evenly spread on top of the ingredients that are in the pot of the Ninja Foodi. Do not mix these in.
This recipe does not use any type of pan, so you can just use the inner gray pot that comes with the Ninja Foodi to make this dish.
Shepherd’s Pie is perfect to serve as is without any sides as it’s a one-dish dinner, making it a great option to feed the family!

- 1 Pound Ground Beef
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Italian Seasonings
- 1/2 tsp Dry Basil
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Cup Frozen Corn
- 14.5 Oz Canned Mixed Vegetables, Drained
- 1 Tbsp Gluten-Free Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 Cup Gluten-Free or Regular All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Colby Jack Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Grated Parmesan Cheese
Mashed Potatoes
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream (or Half and Half)
- 1/4 Cup Salted Melted Butter
Instructions
- Clean, Peel, and Cube the Potatoes if needed.
- Place them into the inner, gray pot of the Ninja Foodi and add the Beef Broth.
- Place the inner pot in the Ninja Foodi on the PRESSURE cooker setting. Make sure the valve is CLOSED/SEALED and cook on HIGH for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes do a quick release by moving the valve to VENT.
- Transfer potatoes into a bowl and pour the broth into a cup, reserve this for later.
- Set the Ninja Foodi to Air Fryer and select SAUTE/SEAR level 4.
- Add 2 TBSP of olive oil, bacon bits, and chopped onions, sear for 2-3 minutes until soft.
- Add the ground beef and the spices, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasonings, dry basil, paprika, and black pepper. Mix well and cook until about 3/4 done. You will only have a few pieces of meat that may be a bit pink.
- Add the frozen corn, a can of mixed veggies, and Worcestershire. Cook for 4-5 minutes until well cooked.
- Sprinkle the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Pour about 3/4 cup of the reserved broth back into the pot. Mix well and cook until the broth is absorbed. It should look like a thick sauce.
- Turn the Ninja Foodi to OFF.
- Make the mashed potatoes to your liking. We normally mash these in a large bowl adding heavy cream and butter. Use a hand mixer to mix them up well.
- Scoop the mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture in the pot of the Ninja Foodi, spread evenly and DO NOT MIX.
- Sprinkle the cheese on top.
- Set the Ninja Foodi to AIR FRYER, then close the lid.
- Air Fry at 375°F for 6-8 minutes.
