Use simple ingredients to learn how to make an Iced Latte at Home, it is just as good as the coffee shop!
Ready to enjoy a delicious iced latte at home? This easy recipe uses freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, your favorite milk, and a splash of flavored syrup for the perfect refreshing drink. It’s just as good — if not better — than anything you’ll find at your local coffee shop!
An iced latte is a classic coffee drink made with espresso or strong brewed coffee and chilled milk, then it is served right over ice. It’s lighter than an iced coffee and creamier than cold brew, but it’s completely customizable based on your taste! Making iced latte at home is not only easy, but it’s a great way to save money and control what goes in your cup of coffee!

What ingredients do you need to make an Iced Latte?

- Espresso or Strong Coffee
- Milk or Cream
- Flavored Syrup
- Ice or Coffee Ice Cubes
- Mason Jar or Glass
That’s it; just these 3 main ingredients plus your ice cubes are needed to make this recipe.
Step by Step Instructions:
- Fill a glass to the top with ice, then add in the flavor of choice, more or less depending on if you like your coffee sweet.
- Next, pour in the coffee then top it with the cream or milk until the glass is full. This recipe is based on a 16 oz glass. If you use a larger cup, then you may want to use more coffee too.
- Stir and Enjoy!
Using Coffee Ice Cubes:

Simply brew a batch of strong coffee, let it cool slightly, and pour it into an ice cube tray. Freeze until solid, then use the coffee cubes in place of regular ice in your iced lattes. As they melt, they add even more rich coffee flavor instead of diluting your drink, perfect for slow sippers or hot days when regular ice just won’t cut it!
Remember using coffee ice cubes will make your coffee stronger since most coffee shops do not use this method, keep this in mind if you choose to use coffee ice cubes.
What syrups should you use for an iced latte?
If you want to add flavor to your latte, then you will need to choose a flavored syrup. There are usually a few such as vanilla at your local grocery stores; however, I often find the best choices at Marshall’s or Restaurant Supply Stores.

My go-to syrups are Skinny Syrups, if you need sugar-free, these are by far the best ones in my opinion. I can often find these at Marshall’s for under $4. They are great to stock up on and use in a variety of drinks like these Italian Cream Sodas.
Any flavor that you like can be added to your latte with a simple syrup, typically it’s best to start at about 2 tablespoons, then add more if you need it sweeter.
What type of coffee should you use for an Iced Latte?
If you were to order an iced latte at your local coffee shop they are going to be using strong espresso coffee out of an espresso machine. If you have an espresso machine this would be ideal to make the best latte.

If you are using a 16 oz cup, then 2 shots of espresso would be ideal, this is about 2 ounces of espresso. If you want an extra caffeinated iced latte add another espresso shot.
What if you do not have an espresso machine? If you do not have an espresso machine, use a very strong drip coffee or cold brew coffee. This coffee could even be brewed and left in the fridge for a day or two as well. This makes it a bit stronger than using it straight out of the coffee maker, plus it cools it down too. We have found this is a great way to have coffee on hand for lattes or iced coffees. It makes it similar to a cold brew coffee.
What type of milk should be used for an iced latte?
Iced Lattes can be made with ANY type of cold milk, but it will ALWAYS affect the end result.
Repeat the sentence above.

If you want a rich, creamy texture Iced Latte then you need to use cream, half and half, or whole milk.
If you need a non-dairy iced latte then use soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk. Each of these nondairy alternatives works very well to make a good latte; however, they will not be as creamy as a dairy milk latte.

Personally, using oat milk is my favorite in a latte, especially the sweetened vanilla oat milk, but my husband prefers cream in his and does not care for it to be made with oat milk. So it’s ultimately going to be totally up to you on which milk of choice you prefer.
This coffee beverage is our go-to for most of the week especially as we get into those hot summer days. A good iced vanilla latte can instantly lift my day!
