How do you cook green bean casserole on a pellet grill?
Using a large bowl, combine the ingredients for the casserole. Remember that if you are using fresh green beans, then you will want to use a pot of boiling water with a little bit of salt to boil or steam the green beans until soft before using them in this casserole.
Then, carefully pour and spread the green bean mixture into the large skillet. This is best to use a cast iron skillet as they will be able to handle the heat of the pellet grill.
If you want to use a disposable pan, then you can use a disposable aluminum pan that is safe for grilling.
Once this is prepared, it’s time to place it on your pellet grill, place the pan directly on the grill grates. The pellet grill is essentially going to bake the casserole at 350°F; however, as it bakes it will add the flavors of the pellets such as hickory giving it a wonderful smoky twist.
The crispy onions will be mixed in and some will be reserved to top on the casserole at the end of the cooking time. This will bring it to the golden brown color that you would prefer for this casserole dish. It makes those crispy onions even tastier when paired with the pellet flavor.
When ready to serve, carefully remove the casserole from the grill and use a slotted spoon to serve.
What pellets should you use?
A blend of pellet flavors works well for this recipe or hickory pellets. Each pellet flavor will directly enhance the flavor of the dish so go with a flavor that you prefer.
We almost always use the blend of pellets.
How do you store Pellet Grill Green Bean Casserole?
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container until ready to serve.
When ready to serve, these can be reheated in a microwave-safe dish for 2-3 minutes.
