This past week, I was able to try out the latest coffee from Starbucks just in time for the holidays, Holiday Blend. This blend was perfect for a beautiful fall morning and even more perfect as we head into the holiday season. The Holiday Blend is said to be a full bodied dark roast; however, we actually felt like it was not that dark compared to many other blends at Starbucks. It had a great spicy flavor that paired perfectly with warm cinnamon rolls.
I have to admit, resisting these took some serious will power and a reminder that I haven’t eaten wheat flour in nearly a year! My husband and son though were happy to eat up!
My husband typically prefers frozen coffee, but he wanted to try out the latest Holiday Blend. He tried it first by itself without the cinnamon rolls. He actually thought it tasted fabulous and is now converting to warm coffee in the mornings! Next up, he paired it with a cinnamon roll and enjoyed the abundance of flavor from the two together.
We found out that the best flavors to pair with the Holiday Blend are ginger, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange, and cloves. In my opinion those are the most used spices during the holiday season so the fact they pair so well make it a delicious pairing!
I am anxious to serve this blend for our Christmas Breakfast this year; however, I have a feeling I’ll be heading back for more because I will likely use it all in the meantime. We were able to pick this up at Sam’s Club in bulk, which I prefer because I can get more for my money plus that is less trips to the store for coffee!
Being that I worked in a coffee shop for many years, storage was always key. To store the bulk coffee, I plan to put it in an airtight container. I have learned over the years that it is actually best stored at room temperature and not in the fridge.
I typically brew coffee at home every morning and have a rare treat every now and then and go to Starbucks; however, for me it is most cost effective to purchase their bulk coffee and brew it myself.
Did you know that there are specific flavors that make for some Delicious Pairings with coffee? If so, what are some of the blends that you like to pair with pastries or treats in the morning? Also, be sure to share these on Twitter at #DeliciousPairings or on Facebook!

Yum!!! I love Starbucks coffee, and those cinnamon rolls do look delicious. I look foreword to the Holiday Blend every year, and it is terrific as a stocking stuffer that we use on Christmas morning.
Awesome photos! I can’t wait to pick some up this week and donate it!
Love it! I can almost smell it through the screen LOL!
We loved this coffee, too. YUMMY!! I also keep my coffee at room temp and have never had problems. We just drink too much… I thought, though, that it was ok to store in the freezer?
Here is some info on the best ways to store and the downside of freezer storage for coffee…http://www.coffeeam.com/coffee-storage.html.
Good to know! I will fix my post as soon as I can get back on my blog!! 🙂
I’m going to need to stop by for a coffee break – yummy Holiday blend and cinnamon rolls? Yes, please!
