This set it and forget it Crockpot Taco Meat is perfectly made in the slow cooker, crockpot, or even the Ninja Foodi!
One of our favorite way to make taco meat is to do it right in the Ninja Foodi using the slow cooker function. This means you can also make this recipe in the slow cooker or crockpot too. It’s easy to make and freezer the meat throughout the week as well.
I adapted this recipe from my original version of Slow Cooker Taco Meat that I shared years back. We’ve tweaked it over the years to create this particular version.
Can you freeze Crockpot Taco Meat?
This can absolutely be cooked in the crockpot and then placed in freezer-safe bags to store in the freezer. I prefer to wrap it in plastic wrap first and then place it in freezer-safe storage bags.
If you are certain you get it fully wrapped and stored properly then it can easily last 2 months in the freezer. Once you are ready to serve it, simply defrost and warm it up. We use this throughout the month for tacos, nachos, and enchiladas.
What type of Taco Seasoning should you use?
Crockpot Taco Meat can be made with store-bought taco seasoning or gluten-free taco seasoning. It can also be made with homemade taco seasoning too.
In total, we like to add 1 packet or 4 Tbsp to our crockpot taco meat. If you prefer it to have more kick to it, add an additional packet or 4 Tbsp more.
If you prefer homemade, this gluten-free taco seasoning is a great option. We also use taco seasoning for these Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas, which are a personal favorite!
How do you make Crockpot Taco Meat in the Ninja Foodi?
I always make our Crockpot Taco Meat as Ninja Foodi Taco Meat using the slow cooker function of the Ninja Foodi. I also have recently fallen in love with this glass lid that makes the Ninja Foodi function just like a traditional slow cooker.
If you prefer though, you can use the pressure cooker lid that comes with the Ninja Foodi, set the nozzle to ‘vent’ while using the slow cooker function.
Can you put raw ground beef in a slow cooker or crockpot?
Yes! I have always preferred to cook the ground beef first, but for this particular recipe, you can put in raw ground beef.
It will then cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, once it’s completely done, you can break apart the ground beef and drain it if you prefer.
If you use lean ground beef, then you likely will not need to drain the meat before serving.
