One of our favorite recipes to make-ahead is this Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick Mix, similar to the Gluten-Free Pancake Mix, this is one that you can make ahead and store it until needed.
I’ll be sharing how to make homemade biscuits with this mix next week, so stay tuned. In the meantime, this will work as a baking mix in any recipe that calls for it.
What do you need for Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick Mix?
- Gluten-Free or Regular All-Purpose Flour
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Butter
That’s all you need for this easy mix, it’s right in your pantry and fridge, so there is no need to buy the mix!
Tips for Making Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick Mix:
This does mean though to store it, you do need to put it in the fridge. It’s best stored in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
This can be done in a mixing bowl or a food processor, it’s certainly easier in a food processor because you will get a real fine mixture.
It’s best done with a dough blender if you do it by hand in a mixing bowl.
What flour should you use for Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick Mix?
This can be made with a simple swap of a 1:1 Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour, we use Better Batter; however, any 1:1 gluten-free all-purpose flour will work.
Other than that, all the other ingredients should be naturally gluten-free, but as always be sure to check all ingredients before using them.
What recipes can you use Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick in?
Basically, you can use this mix in any recipe that calls for a baking mix or Bisquick, such as these 30 Bisquick recipes.
It can also be used in pancakes and biscuits made with Bisquick too.

Gluten-Free Homemade Bisquick Mix
Ingredients
- 3 Cups Gluten-Free or Regular All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Cup 1 Stick Butter, Cold and Cubed
Instructions
Mixing Bowl Method:
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut butter into flour mixture using a pastry blender or fork.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 months.
Food Processor Method:
- Add flour, baking powder, and salt to the food processor.
- Pulse to combine.
- Add butter and pulse until the mixture is coarse and resembles cornmeal.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 months.
