Back before I went gluten free I mentioned this fabulous Master Baking Mix that is shared by Brandi with The Creative Princess over on Money Saving Queen. I used this in many recipes last Christmas and around the holidays, in recipes such as Homemade Biscuits and Cookies!
As soon as I found out that I needed to eat gluten free, I was overwhelmed with the different task needed for gluten free baking and simply went with Gluten Free Bisquick as the alternative to homemade baking mix. If you are gluten free and have purchased this before then you know that it is extremely expensive for a small box of Gluten Free Bisquick. It’s good and works just does not always fit the budget!
So, I decided to try out this baking mix again only this time I used Better Batter Gluten Free All Purpose Flour and guess what? It worked!
Now, I’m not going to tell you it works interchangeably in every recipe that calls for Baking Mix, but it worked in a few that I tried it with. I’ll be sharing those with you soon as well.
I love that this only uses a few ingredients that I already have on hand in my pantry, plus it’s much more affordable for me to make it instead of purchasing the store bought gluten free version! I’ve also doubled the recipe to make more and that has worked well for me as well. I always make it with less butter to do the more light version.
Do you have a favorite gluten free baking mix? I’m anxious to try this out in more recipes!

- 2 Cups Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
- 1 Tsp Gluten Free Baking Powder
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter, Softened
- This can be mixed in a variety of ways; however, I prefer to put it all in the mixing bowl of a stand mixer and use the paddle attachment. This needs to be mixed well until the butter is well combined.
