Make an easy homemade hoisin sauce in minutes with pantry-style ingredients!
Hoisin Sauce is a great pantry staple that is necessary for a variety of recipes like this Air Fryer Sesame Chicken. The great thing is it’s a very easy sauce to make right at home with just a few ingredients.
What is Hoisin Sauce?
Hoisin sauce is a sweet and salty sauce that is very similar in consistency to barbecue sauce but it’s used for a variety of Asian recipes.
The main thing if you want to keep this gluten-free is to check all labels because sometimes it’s hidden in some of the ingredients.
Remember that with Hoisin Sauce a little goes a long way!
Tips for Making Hoisin Sauce:
Be sure to use all ingredients listed, including the Tahini, which you can find at your local Whole Foods or on Amazon.
Once you have all the ingredients together it’s simply going to be warmed up on the stove and whisk together to form a great sauce.
Once it’s made, it can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container. It’s typically best not to keep this for more than about 2 weeks.
Is Hoisin Sauce Gluten-Free?
It can be gluten-free depending on what you put into the sauce. It needs to be made with gluten-free soy sauce, gluten-free tahini, and gluten-free chile sauce.
When I make this homemade, I always use gluten-free. I have found that it’s tricky to find a gluten-free store-bought version.
Be sure to check all ingredients and labels before considering it gluten-free even when making it homemade. The labels do change frequently too and without notice, so it’s always important to check them regularly.
Now, are you ready to add this Hoisin Sauce to your pantry and kitchen staples? It’s a great sauce to have on hand for a variety of meals!
