What type of mushrooms should you use for Smoked Mushrooms?
This recipe will be done with whole mushrooms. It’s best to use white button or baby portobello mushrooms.
Be sure to clean them off before proceeding to get any dirt or grime off them. This would be just a light clean and pat dry.
These can also be made with garden fresh produce too.
What type of pan should you use?
Smoked Mushrooms can be done directly on the grill grates; however, we like to use a grill pan.
This grill pan is actually a great option for a variety of smoked vegetables.
Tips for Making Smoked Mushrooms:
Smoked Mushrooms can be made with just a little bit of herbs and seasoning along with Olive Oil, or you can use Grapeseed Oil too.
In regards to pellets, you can use any pellets you prefer. We like to use a variety of pellets so we get a few different flavors. The best ones to use though for this recipe are apple, pecan, or cherry wood pellets.
Add some color and some extra flavor to your Smoked Mushrooms by serving them with freshly chopped parsley.
These will take about 30 minutes to cook, so put them on at the end of your cooking time if you are making meat along with it. They need to be soft around the edges and look nicely roasted all around.

Smoked Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 4 Cups Cleaned Whole Mushrooms (White Button or Baby Portobello)
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tsp Fine Sea Salt
- 1 Tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat smoker to 180*F.
- In a large bowl, toss the mushrooms with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the mushrooms with the seasonings and toss to coat.
- Place mushrooms directly on the smoker grates or add a grilling pan and smoke for 30 minutes.
- Increase smoker temperature to 475*F, when the smoker reaches 475*F, remove your cooked mushrooms from the grates and serve warm.
