This Rainbow Sherbet Punch will hit the spot at every party! This recipe is simple and perfect!
Rainbow Sherbet Punch is one of our favorite all-time sherbet punch recipes. This recipe was served for YEARS at all of our holiday gatherings.
My grandma was known for her punch and now I serve it at all of our parties too. It’s also simple to get creative with a variety of different additions to this punch recipe.
It only uses 3 ingredients and is simple to make just before guests arrive. It’s full of flavor and yes it does have a lot of sugar too, but given that it’s for a party…you’ll be just fine.
Did you know I have a great post that features all sorts of Sherbet Punch recipes? Be sure to check out this list of even more recipes for punch.
What do you need to make Rainbow Sherbet Punch?
Rainbow Sherbet Punch is made with just 3 ingredients:
- Hawaiian Punch
- Sprite
- Rainbow Sherbet
That’s it! Once you have these 3 ingredients, you simply add equal parts of Hawaiian Punch and Sprite to the punch bowl and top it with the Rainbow Sherbet.
Using sherbet is a must as it foams and gives the right consistency with the punch.
Sherbet is made with fruit and water, it does have dairy too but not at the same level as traditional ice cream, which is not the same.
So if you are making sherbet punch or this Rainbow Sherbet Punch…don’t skip the actual ‘sherbet’. It will not turn out the same without it.
Rainbow Sherbet Punch is ALWAYS the hit of every party and will be for yours too. It’s a colorful, fun addition and even considered to be a great Unicorn Punch too if you are looking for that for an upcoming party.
If you are looking for even more punch recipes this Coffee Punch is a great one too, it’s one we used at a baby shower too.
What punch bowl should you use?
I also wanted to share this punch bowl too, this is a more updated version of the one I use, Anchor Hocking Presence Cake Dome Set.
This one can be used as a punch bowl, cake stand, or for trifle desserts. So I like to use it for a variety of options.

This is so pretty!!! Love it!
Love it! I make something similar, but I use Minute Maid Fruit Punch and usually use Dt. Sprite/Sierra Mist/7-Up. I use Rainbow Sherbert or Raspberry Sherbert. Either way I get rave reviews about it! With the sugar in the punch and sherbert no one notices that the pop is diet and though not sugar-free it helps cut the sugar for those who are diabetics.
How much does it take for 80 people?
1 gallon of each should give you 32 – 12oz. servings
How much for 50 people
Typically 1 punch bowl serves about 24 people, I’d probably triple the recipe just to have extra just in case. We usually refill the punch bowl as ours goes down for parties.
My grandpa did this punch every Christmas! He didn’t do it one year cause he thought nobody liked it but then I asked for it and he got so happy lol. Only difference is he adds both sprite and seven up I believe
Very pretty! This is basically the same recipe my mom always made. She used Hawaiian Punch, Ginger ale and Lime Sherbet. If she couldn’t get lime, then she’d use Rainbow. It was always gone in minutes. I bet it tastes very similar to yours.
To make it even tastier, throw in some canned pineapple juice and frozen orange juice concentrate. Then you will have my family’s traditional punch recipe. Sometimes I add frozen lemonade, too. Yum!
YUM!!! I am trying that next time I make it!
Can you make some of it as freeze it.
How much of the pineapple juice and orange juice co concentrate?
I grew up on this stuff! We have it for every special occasion and holiday…it’s just not a party without this punch =)
Are we related? lol. My Mom made this exact punch every Christmas! She has been gone for 14 years. I still carry on the tradition. Everyone can’t wait to have “The Punch”
Am going to try this for my daughter’s bday party tomorrow. It looks delicious. Thank you.
Yes how much of the liquid do you use. Is it half or ???
Based on the punch bowl size you use, you will pour the sprite in halfway then finish the other half of the bowl with punch.
I’ve been making a punch like this for over 50 years! I have always loved it! I use Ginger Ale and if you want to spike it some Rum will do so nicely!
Yes my Grandmother use to make it that way. so good!
and a dash of rum for the kiddies
Im wanting to make this for our back to school luncheon, could you tell me about how many one bowl of this would serve?
Made this today for a family lunch following our daughter’s baptism, everyone loved it! I will definitely be keeping this recipe.
That’s wonderful about your daughter, and I am so happy to hear that everyone loved it!
Sam recipe my mom always used, thoug for adults we added a bottle of champagne.
Ive always made this (one of the first things I’ve ever made!) for my own birthdays, I haven’t in a while though.. Time to change that!! I used to use either rainbow or raspberry (yum!) and usually just sprite/Sierra mist/7up. Maybe I’ll try it with the punch this year
We always had a version of this when we had any family get together while my Mom was alive. The only difference in ours was that we used Ginger Ale as the soda part. It was always a hit with everyone. Delicious! Have not had it in years and I do miss it. Could drink the whole bowl my self.
This looks super yummy! I love how easy it is, too. This will be perfect for my son’s birthday party coming up. Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday this week!
I love sherbet punch! Perfect for so many get togethers! Thanks for linking up with Delicious Dishes Recipe Party!
I make this with the Hawaiian Punch and 7 up or Sierra Mist plus frozen fruit (no sherbert).
If the ice cream melts on top is it still good? I want to do this for a shower that is a drop in.
Just remember everything has to be cold, We had this alotWhen we were kids, or for party’s we spiked it, Can use any sherbet you like..This is a hit, till this day, Women 50 yrs ago made these punches and were always good.Enjoy !!!Happy Hoidays
Yes for sure chilled is the best. It’s very nostalgic!
How many does one batch serve? Can you email me the answer as I’m not sure if I’ll see the reply on here.
It should easily serve 20 or more.
These are a perfect party punch! Always a big hit with everyone.
For sure it’s a favorite!
What a treat, this makes me want to throw a party just so I can make your punch! I have shared this over in Chloe’s Kitchen, my Facebook Group. I would love to have you come and link up at Celebrate Your Story! Here is the link if you have a sec to come by: https://www.mommyhatescooking.com/rainbow-sherbet-punch
I love sherbet punch. I remember drinking this a lot at family gatherings, but I haven’t had it in a few years. Pinned and will be featuring this on MM.
Thanks so much!
I make this and add crush pineapple and mini marshmallows
That sounds great! I may have to try that this year to mix it up!
Love it, I cannot believe this easy recipe existed.
Yay! Glad you enjoyed it!
What a wonderful punch that is also kid-friendly! I might have to serve your punch this summer when we have our annual cookout (and maybe have a spiked version for the adults… heh heh).
Haha!! That’s a great way to doctor it up for adults. 😉
Thank you so much. This is just what I was looking for. Though I don’t have the bananas ready, so I will just use frozen blackbery/raspberry/blueberry mix, and pineapples. Hope it works! It looks delicious!
Can u mix the punch up and put in a cooler
I’ve never done it like that, but you could probably get it mixed and then add the sherbet just before serving.
How fun! This is so colorful and the flavors sound fantastic. Love those pretty scoops of sherbet floating around in there!
recipes look good
Oh no! We still have it available at our local grocery store. Any sherbet would be delicious in this recipe. Thank you!
Rainbow Sherbet Punch is a yummy punch that is perfect to serve at many parties. It is also delicious to drink whenever the mood strikes. This classic tropical drink makes the perfect summertime cocktail!
I live alone and punch is my weakness. How can I make multiple serving to put in the freezer to enjoy whenever I want some? I know not to add the Sprite until serving. Any suggestion is appreciated.
You could probably freeze the fruit punch with a scoop of sherbet.
Just take a can of soda and whatever punch/fruit juice you like. Pour equal parts in a big glass, like you would for a root beer float. Then plop some sherbet on top. One big, individual serving of punch for you enjoy
Gorgeous looking punch! It sounds so delicious too. Can’t wait to try these, everyone will love them.
Omg I love how it tastes. It’s like a party in your mouth.
Thank you for the recipe! How would you spike this for adults?
I’ve seen different flavors of Smirnoff added to it, which works well.
love!!
How many people will one punch bowl serve?
It’s going to depend on the serving size of the cups, but normally 20-30. If I have a lot (more than 30) of people coming, I usually buy an extra gallon of the pop to refill the bowl, I normally have a huge jug of Hawaiian Punch that I can use to refill it throughout the party too if needed.
Can I just add the whole half gallon of sherbet to the bowl then pour punch and Sprite over it?
Yes you can.
Thank you for your post, I really like your post. aalikinfo
can the hawaiian punch be replaced with something else?
I’ve only done this with hawaiian punch, so I’m not sure what else would work in place of that.
