Get ready to set up for game day with this Savory Game Day Spread & Party Food Tips!
This post has been sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Did you have a great holiday? I sure hope you did! Maybe some football was included in your day? It’s been included in all of our days lately.
My husband has fallen in love with football again this past year and so has our son. He’s going to be 10 this next year and has really grasped the game this year.
It’s suddenly turned into game day parties every weekend with him and my husband, while my daughter and I either hang out in the kitchen baking or go do something else that is fun for us.
I’ll admit, I like to watch a little football but I prefer chatting or preparing the food more than the game. That’s a good match too, because my husband and son are exactly the opposite!
For our game day watch party, we had a few essentials we picked up first at Dollar General.
Before heading out to Dollar General, be sure to check out the Tyson© products that Dollar General carries to get started on your game day planning.
What should you stock up on at Dollar General?
- Pretzels, Nuts, and Chips
- Mayo and Dressing for Dips
- Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips
- Tyson® Any’tizers® Buffalo Bone-In Wings
On top of loving the game and the food, we also live in the country and happen to frequent our nearby Dollar General often. It’s the closest store to us, and I just love it!
I not only have to stock up on food for game day but also baking items, household items, even toys and stocking stuffers for the kids were all purchased there. Actually, I even bought all my curtains for my house there. I shopped around everywhere I could think of, and where did I find the ones I love? Dollar General!
As we prepared for game day, I started off with the main dish: wings. Yep, let’s face it, wings and football just go together.
I was able to head to the freezer section of Dollar General and pick up Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips & Tyson® Any’tizers® Buffalo Bone-In Wings.
Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Place frozen strips on baking sheet.
- Heat 18 to 20 minutes on top rack of oven.
Tyson® Any’tizers® Buffalo Bone-In Wings Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Place frozen chicken wings on foil lined baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
- Heat 18 to 20 minutes on top rack of oven. For extra crispiness, heat an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
My husband LOVES those Buffalo Wings, and I usually will make dips to pair with them. This time, we made our family favorite: Dill Dip.
This dip is perfect for chips and for those chicken wings and strips, too.
Now, another family favorite around here? Savory Game Day Snack Mix! This is one that we typically make for parties around the holidays but also for game day.
It’s great because you can truly mix and match your favorite products for it.
What do you need for Savory Game Day Snack Mix?
- Peanuts
- Pretzels
- Cheese Crackers
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Seasoned Salt
- Garlic Powder
- Dill Weed
That’s all you need, but you can easily add in other crackers or snack items you prefer. My grandma used to make this mix growing up, and she’d toss in whatever she had in the cupboards. I always said it was her way of cleaning out the pantry. It sure did taste amazing, too!
Once you have all that you need for your Savory Game Day Snack Mix, you simply mix and bake it to really get that crunchy texture.
My kids love to have some of these on their plates with their chicken strips on game days.
My husband loves that it gives him something to offset the spicy buffalo wings, too.
Do you have any game day favorites that you keep on hand for parties?
These are some of our essentials, which are easy to pick up at our local Dollar General—even the drinks and paper goods are available there, too.
It’s time to start planning.
Happy Game Day Partying!
