I thought I would take a minute to see how you are doing with Menu Planning. A few months back I posted on how I menu plan. These can be found here with Menu Planning Part 1 and Part 2.
Following posting my tips and how I menu plan, I altered my strategy just a bit. I have just recently started shopping each week as oppose to a large grocery trip every 2 weeks. This has drastically cut down on my cost and helped me to keep closer to my plan. I was running into issues with the large grocery trip because if I had something come up I would have food that would go bad possibly or not get used. I felt like I would also buy things I thought I may need when in fact I really did not.
By shopping weekly, I’m able to plan out a few days at a time, and cut out the unnecessary grocery trips during the week. My husband is well aware I will only go to the store 1 time a week now. This way I’m not ask to go get this or that every other day at the store. I love it. It’s almost freeing for me!

Thanks for the tips! Meal Planning is an area that I need lots of help in.
You know, I read your post and the lightbulb went off. I usually try to do a big monthly trip but will do a weekly run for things like fresh produce, milk, and baby food/formula. I really like your idea of doing a weekly shop instead because I completely agree that I have produce that sometimes goes bad before we get to it, I buy things to keep us in check for the month when we don’t really need them yet, etc. Also, doing a weekly run opposed to a monthly one means you can scan out all of the best deals and get them each week saving time and money. I like it, thanks!
