Make the best Pellet Grill Smoked Sweet Potatoes alongside your main meal, ready to eat in 4 hours!
Make the best Smoked Sweet Potatoes on your Pellet Grill, and cook them low and slow right alongside your favorite meats.
Smoked Sweet Potatoes are going to be made the same way as Smoked Baked Potatoes, using the same method with just a few different toppings for your sweet potatoes.
What temperature do sweet potatoes need to be to be considered done?
Sweet potatoes are considered done when they reach an internal temperature of at least 205 degrees F.
This temperature can be checked with the meat probe that comes with the pellet grill or with an instant-read meat thermometer.
What would pellets should you use?
We like to use a blend of wood pellets; however, hickory is an optimum choice for these sweet potatoes.
If you want them to have a sweeter smoky flavor, try apple or cherry wood pellets.
Tips for Making Pellet Grill Sweet Potatoes:
Use foil sheets for each potato, spraying it with olive oil spray and then wrapping the potato.
Once the potatoes are wrapped, they can be placed directly on the grill grates. Once on the grill grates, let them smoke low and slow at 225 degrees F for 4 hours or until they reach the optimal internal temperature of 205 degrees F.
It does not matter how many potatoes that you choose to use, the method will still be the same regardless of the amount.
If you prefer, you can rotate the potatoes throughout the cooking process to be sure they cook evenly on all sides.
Remember that many times a pellet grill will not heat evenly if it’s offset, so if this is the case one of the potatoes may cook slower than the other, if you notice this move the potatoes around during the cooking time so that they do evenly cook at the right temperature.
