Gluten-Free Cheerios Treats are the perfect way to enjoy a treat!

As soon as I heard that Cheerios™ would soon be gluten free, the excitement was overwhelming. I mean, did I ever think I could be so excited about something like that? Ummm…now going on about 4+ years without EVER eating Cheerios…YES! The excitement was out of control. I spotted them recently at the grocery store and my son, who is now gluten-free, was ecstatic. He could not wait to choose a variety that he could eat too.
Then, after I picked up our Cheerios, I read the story behind it. Phil Zietlow, an engineer at General Mills for more than FIFTY years, discovered his daughter-in-law could not eat gluten. He set off on a mission that lasted over 6 years to make Cheerios gluten-free. Is that not amazing? That is some way to show love toward a family member, right? Not to mention what a huge difference he made in the lives of the rest of us who are also gluten-free too.
General Mills wants everyone to be able to enjoy Cheerios so they set off on this mission to make Cheerios a more pure product. They are achieving this by creating an ingredient-sorting process. They also removed wheat and barley from the MultiGrain variety too.
The best part? The price will stay the same! There is absolutely NO difference for the consumer, aside from the fact that those of us who once could not eat it, now can! The product is hitting shelves now but will be fully stocked by September.
Be sure when shopping for the product that you see the label says Simply Made Gluten-Free. This will ensure you are getting the new product.
In celebration, my son and I whipped up these Cheerios Treats! We decided to use the Honey Nut Cheerios and the Frosted Cheerios. Then, we ate and ate because they were just that good and we could finally enjoy every last bite!
