This is the potty, this is where we go potty. This is the floor, this is not where we go potty, but I see you think it is. Sound familiar? This would be my words as I try to explain this concept to my toddler. Potty Training…that is stage of life we are in with our toddler. I am teaming up with Pull-Ups® to provide you with this great coupon offer, plus a little story about our potty training experience!
Over Christmas break, I got adventurous and decided to attempt to potty train my daughter. She had just turned 2, but I thought she was probably ready. My son potty trained at 2 1/2, and he was a breeze. The first day was the hardest with him, day 2 was better, and by day 3 everything clicked. He was pretty much trained after that.
He was such a deep sleeper though, my husband and I decided to stick to Pull-Ups® for nap time and overnight for a little bit longer. I know that everyone has their opinions on whether or not to keep them in training pants after potty training or not, for us this is what worked the best.
My daughter was another story though, I say I attempted it because I did, then I gave up. I decided to keep her in Pull-Ups® a bit longer just to get her to understand the potty training process a bit before attempting potty training again. I can already tell she is much more ahead of the game than she was just a month ago so maybe our valid attempt at it in December did do something!
She actually didn’t really have many accidents when I first attempted to train her, but she just did not go…at all. I finally worried myself into fearing she would get a bladder infection. She was holding it ALL day long! I have no idea how she was even doing that especially considering she’s needing to be changed all the time most days.
She’s now to the point that she tells me when she needs to be changed, she even gets her diaper and wipes and lays down all on her own. I know it’s nearly time to start the process again, I’m a big fan of the 3 day method. The biggest problem for us is just finding the 3 consecutive days to train.
Pull-Ups® brand knows there are a number of different methods for parents but when you use their training pants at the start of the process it helps them learn independence right from the beginning of potty training. This is currently holding true for us right now, my daughter is catching on quickly and then eventually we will do away with training pants and go straight to little girl panties again here soon. I am certain though I am going to continue the training pants overnight as I did with my son. It was so much less stress and frustration for both our son and for us, then he eventually started waking up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and we were able to break that fairly easily.
I love the Pull-Ups® Night*Time Training Pants® too because that is specifically what we use the most. They are also available in several different designs, which always get toddlers excited!
