This past week, we hit a stand still with our garden because of a cold snap in our area. Of course, as far as I can tell the entire country hit a cold snap! It is spring, right? I guess with all the snow covered ground in half the country I forgot what spring looked like.
I went to walk outside earlier this week with bright, sunny skies to let our dog out and thought “Oh, what a beautiful spring day.” That was until I walked outside barefoot and was just praying that I still had my toes when I came back inside! Bone. Chilling. Cold.
That isn’t spring.
I’m ready for spring.
I’m ready to be on Zyrtec for 2 months, have Kleenex permanently stuck in my nose, and have contacts I can’t wear because my eyes are so itchy from allergies. Yep…even with that beautiful picture and the onset of my horrible allergies…I’m ready!
It’s time to bust out all my spring clothes in the closet that I’ve not so secretly been ordering for weeks! What can I say…this girl needed a new wardrobe! Last spring, I was pregnant and experiencing miserable morning sickness. I feel like I missed most of spring and summer being sick, so bring it on!
In saying all that, we ended up being inside a lot this week so I thought I would make these cute Garden Markers from Mommy’s Kitchen.
I saw her post these last year and thought they were just the cutest thing I had ever seen! Not only are they cute, but they are a great activity to do with your kids just as she did.
I knew ours would be a little eclectic to say the least seeing as I was doing them with my 3 year old. They were a variety of colors and some of them were mixed colors, but he had a blast making them.
Head on over to Mommy’s Kitchen where you can find the complete tutorial to make your own Garden Markers!
He is so excited about gardening with daddy that he felt proud of his accomplishment that he was going to have out in the garden.
Next, we went outside to put a few of them out in the garden, but I was immediately hit by the next order of business in our backyard…
WEEDS!
I. Hate. These. Things.
I just thought you should know that. They make me crazy.
So, this weekend…my husband will be ridding our yard of these pesky little creatures.
Happy Gardening Weekend (or snow shoveling)!
