This week in our re-purposing meals series, I am going to focus on Toni’s Tangy Meatballs as the basis for the meals. I love this recipe mainly for the amount of meatballs it makes. This recipe can make well over 48 meatballs depending on the size that you make them. Sometimes I end up with close to 60. I almost always freeze half of the meatballs and then warm them up later for additional meals.
Although I freeze half of them that still leaves me with enough to make almost a weeks worth of meals from the half that I keep in the fridge. Then, the following month I use the other half and have another weeks worth of meals. It’s a great time saver during this busy back to school season, plus the upcoming holidays these can also be the perfect addition to a holiday party!
Let’s get started on these meals!
Day 1- Toni’s Tangy Meatballs: On Day 1 make the intial batch of meatballs, either keeping them all in the fridge for more meals or freeze half of them.
Day 2- Tangy Meatball Subs: On Day 2 add them to a hoagie roll top them with cheese and you have some meatball subs!
Day 3- Meatball Calzone: Use the meatballs to make a delicious calzone with all your favorite pizza toppings! Simply use the Tangy Meatballs instead of the Spinach Meatballs mentioned in this recipe.
Day 4- Spaghetti and Meatballs: Add a little spaghetti and marinara then top them with meatballs for a delicious Italian meal complete with a salad and bread!
Day 5- Beef and Veggie Soup: Instead of using ground beef, add meatballs to your favorite version of beef and veggie soup. Serve with a side of cornbread. These are also tasty in Pizza Soup or Lasagna Soup.
Enjoy making a batch of these meatballs plus all the time you’ll save by re-purposing them!

Hi their, I was wondering if you thought these meat balls would be great for meatloaf? Instead if cooking them first flash freeze them raw. So you can take the amount needed for meatloaf and still have meatballs for the other repurpose meals?
Yes, the meatballs would likely make a very good meatloaf. I haven’t done it before though but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
In the winter I make a big batches of chili and freeze it. Would love some repurposing ideas besides the obvious of chili Mac, Fritos bags or bowls, taco salad , chips chili cheese nachos and Navajo tacos.
Here is one I did with Chili, I’ll be adding to it this fall too.
