Last week I fell in love with a new smoothie recipe, Orange Cream Smoothies! I found this recipe in Jessica Fisher’s latest cookbook, “Best 100 Juices for Kids.”
I don’t know about your kids but mine LOVE juice. The problem? We hardly ever keep juice on hand aside from orange juice because of all that unnecessary sugar. Jessica’s book has already proven to solve that problem for us with 100 simple juice recipes.
I decided to start with this Orange Cream Smoothie, basically it taste like a lighter version of an Orange Julius. I remember going to the mall as a kid sipping on one of those delicious treats. Now, I can make them at home and enjoy them with my kids. We made one batch of these Orange Cream Smoothies and within minutes they were gone.
I ended up making several more batches and freezing them so that we could enjoy them in the mornings on the way to school. I am a big fan of freezing large batches of smoothies, it just makes those busy mornings a little less hectic.
Another point I love about Jessica’s new book is that all of these recipes she had her kids help with, they were taste tested by kids, for kids. That means the kid ‘taste buds’ were used to approve these. My kids are much more likely to enjoy something another kid liked than something ‘mom’ says is good! It’s true, right?
If you are ready to check out this book head on over to Amazon and also check out Life as Mom where Jessica writes daily.
Now, while you read her blog, enjoy sipping on one of her delicious Orange Cream Smoothies!
Enjoy!

Oh yum! I need that book! Question on freezing smoothies: what do you freeze them in? Do you thaw them overnight or do they thaw out pretty good in a few minutes in the morning? I’ve struggled with the juice thing too…but it seems like there’s milk or juice, if you’re not going to give them water, and water tastes weird first thing in the morning! Ha! Definitely going to look into more of these kinds of recipes…thanks!
I use these http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Jar-16-Ounce-Plastic-Freezer/dp/B007BVFXI0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398874137&sr=8-1&keywords=ball+freezer+jars. I love them.
I usually will sit it out when I get up then it’s thawed out a little while later.
awesome, thanks!
