I’ve mentioned it in the past a bit, but my daughter is REALLY into cooking. Of course, my son was a bit too, but my daughter is just so much more interested than he ever was or still is. We have a little area at the side of our kitchen where we have some bar stools and we use it as a breakfast bar area. My daughter will sit up there the entire time I’m in the kitchen watching my every move.
Now, she sits there until she sees a way to help me in the kitchen, then she will say ‘Mommy and Cora need to cook, Cora will help.’ She runs off immediately to get her little stool and then minutes later she’ll be in the kitchen helping right along side of me. The hardest part lately has been trying to nicely let her know that she can’t help me on the stove or oven yet.
She immediately wants to help me with things on the stove and oven but the concept of ‘it’s hot’ hasn’t quite sunk in yet.
I jump at the chance to cook with her nowadays though, I love the age she is where she is really getting into helping me and that she is so eager to learn about cooking and baking. I decided to let her help me out while we made a few different varieties of brownies including these fun Game Day Brownies.
Thankfully Pillsbury makes it very easy to make brownies with the family using Pillsbury™ Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix and Frostings at Walmart. My daughter and I headed out to Walmart to stock up on our favorite mixes and even try out a few new icings from Pillsbury.
Once we got home it was all about making those brownies and attempting to keep her and my husband out of the brownie batter! Eeeeek!
After our brownies were baked per the instructions on the box and cooled, I decided to slice them and then top them with a little bit of green icing. Once the icing was in place I added a football topper to each one to make these fun Game Day Brownies. I wanted to keep them simple so that my kids could help.
Of course, their favorite part of helping was eating, but these turned out perfect for Game Day parties.
We enjoyed mixing up a moment with Pillsbury and taking a break from the day to day routine to get in the kitchen together as a family.
Be sure to stop back by in a few weeks and we will share our take on Valentine’s Day Brownies too!
Now, stock up and save at Walmart on Pillsbury products!
Enjoy!
