This is the time of year where most of us start thinking about changes to our diet, right? Well, I have to admit I’ve had some frustration as I’ve watched many commit to these changes but then immediately talk about when they can have milkshakes and junk food again. The changes I have made to my diet, I plan to continue for the long haul. Of course, there will be times when you may have some of those sugary treats, but for the most part I want to be certain I’m eating wholesome foods year round, not just at the beginning of the year. One way that my family eats wholesome food is by adding these Strawberry & Peanut Butter Gluten Free Sandwich Bars from Van’s Foods into our pantry.
My kids absolutely love these, plus it fills them up, it isn’t simply empty calories. Now, we like to dress our bars up a bit by adding a little bit of whipped Greek yogurt on top and some fresh sliced blueberries with oats. It just adds even more protein and nutritious value to the bars. These have been a go-to for me after a hard workout at the gym. I have been going to the gym now about 5-6 days a week and quickly found that I needed a nutritious snack right after a workout to stabilize my blood sugar. These Fruit Topped Strawberry & Peanut Butter Bars helped do just that, plus it’s super tasty!
Did I mention this is gluten-free too? YES! My son and I get very excited when we see gluten-free snacks that we can enjoy too. My daughter isn’t gluten-free, but she loves these just as much as we do. I typically pick up a few different flavors of these bars so that my daughter can have this as well, she can’t have strawberry but they also make blueberry too. These bars have simple, clean ingredients that you can pronounce and are perfect for the entire family.
These past few months, we have changed what is in our pantry and these bars fit right in. I’ve started to eliminate all those foods that really did not provide much nutritious value and replace them with foods that do. It’s amazing what food can do to your body over time if you are not eating wholesome foods. In just a few months, I’ve noticed such an increase of energy. I was also having intense back pain before starting this journey of eating right and working out and it’s almost non-existent now.
This year is about getting my body back in line and I want to be sure I can do that for the long run. That meant adding in foods that would work well for my diet and that taste good too. I’m learning that it’s all about balance and really choosing what you eat wisely. I think for me getting my diet on track was really the hardest thing to do and primarily because my meals were fine but the snacks had to change. It’s amazing how many times I was grazing by the fridge to get a snack. I never realized that every little lick of a bowl or bite of the kid’s food adds up, that means it’s necessary to have a filling snack such as these bars.
Right now, you can grab your Van’s Products at your local Meijer and be sure to download this coupon for $1.00 off one Van’s Food product. This is a great way to stock up on these bars, because if your kids love them as much as mine do, they won’t last long!
What types of snacks do you eat that help you maintain a nutritious diet? I’d love to hear some of your ideas!

uhm DELICIOUS. This seriously looks amazing and it’s gluten free? That’s a double win. It’s so hard to find something yummy, healthy and gluten free. This looks like it hits all three.
My kids are huge fans of breakfast bars, and healthy granola bars in general. Although I normally make my own these seem like a healthy grab n’go option.
These butter bars really look delicious and nutritious. These are a good way to enhance the kid’s appetite. My dad has always advised us not to see food with empty calories such as the junk food in presentable and attractive packages.
Nowadays I change my diet to healthy snack foods that is easy to prepare and suit on my taste buds. Definitely this one will be added on my list. New variety of food helps you not to be over bored on being fit.
