In minutes make these easy Sonic Slushies or Homemade Slushies, the perfect cold treat!
Living in Oklahoma means that Sonic is EVERYWHERE! It’s also the must-stop for drinks, especially during the summer months. The kids and I will swim all day in the pool and then load up the car and drive into town to get our Sonic Slushies, but now you can make them right at home.
These Sonic Slushies are very easy to make with a few ingredients that you likely have right in your pantry.
What do you need to make Sonic Slushies?
- Ice Cold Water
- Ice
- Granulated Sugar
- Drink Mix such as Kool-Aid
This Sonic Slushie is basically a nice load of sugar, but in moderation, it’s so delicious!
Do you need a blender to make these Homemade Sonic Slushies?
A blender is certainly a must-needed item for these homemade slushies, we use one to make these; however, you can also make this even more fun for the kids by making them right in a Ziploc Bag.
Check out this fun hack for making slushies in a Ziploc Bag.
What flavors of Homemade Slushies can you make?
This can be made with basically any flavor combination that you can come up with using Kool-Aid or flavored drink packets! That means you can really get creative, you can even add candies to it too like Nerds or Skittles.
Those are two favorites for my kids.
Another fun addition is adding a scoop of ice cream too which is easy to create a slushie float!
Tips for Making Sonic Slushies:
These only take 5 minutes to make, simply add all ingredients to the blender and mix it up to your desired consistency. If needed you can add more ice to it; however, we haven’t had to add any additional.
As mentioned above you can mix and match flavors to get the best flavor. These are best served right away instead of frozen for later.
Enjoy these Homemade Sonic Slushies!

healthy drink for summer.
I just love this idea. It would be so refreshing on a hot summer day. Thanks for sharing the recipe and this post will be one of the features this week. #HomeMattersParty
This is so fun! And so much cheaper. 🙂 I also like the idea that you can control the amount of sugar, or use a substitute or whatever. Love this. Pinning! Visiting from Senior Salon Pit Stop linkup.

They were great. One problem though, you should put the weight of the kool aid pack so I can know what to buy. There’s like 3 different sizes. Also you should say the weight of the ice because it’s really hard to accurately measure ice, especially since different ice makers make different shapes.
I don’t know if you stay up to date with all of the comments, so I hope you see this eventually
