Get ready for the best topping served with your favorite fruit or over a delicious bowl of ice cream with this Classic Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe with only THREE ingredients!
Childhood is just made perfect with that warm drizzle of classic hot fudge sauce topped over a scoop of ice or in an ice cream sundae. This homemade hot fudge sauce is thick, rich, and full of chocolate flavor. It’s just like the hot fudge from your favorite ice cream shop, but it’s also easy to store and use throughout the entire month!

Hot Fudge Sauce is actually EXTREMELY easy to make yourself with just THREE ingredients, that’s right, you only need a couple of ingredients. I’ve come to find that so many of the fun toppings I would pick up at the store are so full of extra things that aren’t actually necessary.
This recipe takes less than 10 minutes! It’s thick and creamy plus versatile to use on a variety of foods!
What ingredients do you need?

- Chocolate Chips
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Unsalted Butter

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- In a heavy saucepan, add all ingredients.
- Warm the stove up to medium heat, stirring the ingredients constantly until the chocolate is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Remove from heat, stir, and let cool slightly.
- Add to a jar or container that will be safe to store.
- Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
- If stored, when ready to serve, reheat in a microwave safe bowl or container for 30 seconds, stir, and add an additional 10 seconds each time and stir until smooth again.
Pantry ingredients are all that is needed for this simple recipe, then it can easily be used on ice cream, brownies, pancakes, with fruit, and more. These chocolate flavors are perfect to pair with a fruit tray.
There is minimal to no prep time needed for this recipe, as it will all be quickly prepared on the stovetop.
These ingredients will be warmed in a medium saucepan on medium-low heat. The ingredients can be whisk or stirred constantly until they are melted and smooth. It’s best to keep it at medium-low heat to medium heat to avoid reaching a boil, which will harden the chocolate.
Once the mixture is smooth, it can be served as is or stored for later.
What should you use Hot Fudge Sauce for?

Of course, using Hot Fudge Sauce drizzled over a sundae is a must; that’s likely my favorite use for it, but it’s also fabulous with a big plate of fruit. If you do a sundae, this Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream is a great choice!
The fruit tray can be served with chocolate sauce or caramel sauce, too, which is just as easy to make. These sauces make for a great dip option for fruit such as strawberries and pineapple.

- Hot Fudge Sundaes
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Fruit Tray with Strawberries and Pineapple
- Ice Cream Cake
- Pound Cake
- Marshmallows
How long does Hot Fudge Sauce last?

This sauce can be served immediately, or you can store the leftover sauce in the refrigerator for up to a month in an airtight container or airtight jar.
If you do store it in the fridge, when you are ready to serve it, pour the amount needed into a microwave-safe bowl and heat it for 30 seconds, adding about 10 seconds at a time as needed. After heating, just stir it up!
The main difference between this classic hot fudge sauce recipe and others is that it only uses THREE ingredients, making it extremely easy to make and use throughout the year.

This rich and creamy hot fudge sauce is a must-have for dessert lovers. Whether you’re looking for a quick hot fudge sauce recipe or an old-fashioned hot fudge sauce, this one is guaranteed to impress.

Bland so added scant 1/3 c cocoa, 1/2 t vanilla, another 1/4 c chocolate chips, and a dash of salt — perfectly thick and rich choccy goodness. Froze half.
