For a good hour now, I’ve been sitting here in tears watching the stories on Tackle Kids Cancer. There is just no way to watch them without tearing up, then basically streams of tears at some point too. I am certain each of us know someone or have been personally affected by childhood cancer.
It’s an awful, devastating situation for not just the child but the entire family. It’s also scary because no one is immune, the epidemic must be stopped but to do that funding has to be put in place for more research. Right now, you can find out more on Tackle Kids Cancer on how you can give this holiday season and support this cause.
As a parent, each one of these children that are sharing there story, remind me of my own. One minute they were healthy, playful kids and the next their childhood was completely altered and will impact their life before them. It takes an emotional toll right along with a physical toll. I look at my own kids and my heart breaks. It’s one of those things you hope and pray doesn’t happen in your family but it’s happening everyday to far too many children and families.
I watched the story of Natalie Grace and it just broke me. That reminds me of my own daughter and I can’t even imagine being in that situation. Our daughter had a serious kidney issue last year that had to be corrected. We were only in the hospital for about 3-4 days and it was just an emotionally exhausting situation. That was not even remotely close to being diagnosed with cancer and I remember well how I felt during that situation. I can’t even imagine how the parents of these children feel and just how emotionally exhausted and torn apart they are. It’s devastating to watch a child go through so much pain but even worse when you are watching your own child go through something like that. As parents we would lay our lives down for our kids, then to not be able to take the pain away? It just literally haunts me.
Any donation will greatly impact these children and families as more research and hopefully a cure can be found to this awful disease.
For my family, not only do I want to give back but I am even thinking of talking to our local hospital to see what the kids want for Christmas and maybe bringing by little goodies to bring some cheer this holiday season. I would imagine just seeing a friendly face of another child may mean the world to these kids. I think it would be a great experience for my own kids as well.
Now, it’s time for us to join together and Tackle Kids Cancer.
Be sure to join in and watch the stories of these brave souls.
