The holidays are among us, has anyone noticed just how close they are? I’m sharing these great items in partnership with World Vision to showcase their Holiday Gift Catalog. I did receive these products to share about, I will also be giving the same products away in December as part of a holiday giveaway!
World Vision is near and dear to both my husband and I as we felt led to start giving toward World Vision and a child in need many years ago. My family started giving when I was a kid to another child through a similar program and I remember as a kid being so surprised to find that there were kids who sometimes went without food. Most of our kids today, it’s probably unimaginable in many cases to them that there would be kids that simply need a bite to eat around the world and even in our own communities. My husband and I have tried to instill in our kids that there are many people that may be in need whether it be food, clothing, shelter, or the means to just get back on their feet again.
Did you know that globally poverty is defined as living on less than $1.90 per day? Now, most of us spend more than that just on breakfast! The thing is though in 2015, more than 900 million people lived at or below that global poverty line many of those being in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. World Vision is committed to assisting people in more than 100 countries and this gift guide is just another way to do just that.
We agreed, that we truly loved and supported the mission of World Vision and have been pleased to contribute over the years. Starting in 1996, World Vision introduced their Holiday Gift Catalog. This catalog offers over 100 meaningful gifts that range anywhere from $16 to $39,000! They even have more than 250 items online that you can find here.
Now, some of the most popular items are a goat and two chickens, clothing for children, ducks, and medicine. By simply giving $35 you can provide training for jobs and school supplies to children. Be sure to take a look at the gift catalog and then choose what you would like to donate, a donor card can also be sent in honor or a loved one as well.
There is also another option though and that is the Handcrafted Gifts. These beautiful items that I’m showing today are handcrafted by different artisans in other countries.
- For instance the Tree of Life Votive Holder was made by artisans in India, they work hard to get themselves out of poverty and make a way for their child to have an education.
- Then, there is the Up-cycled Artisan Bowl, this is also made in India and is soldered industrial waste such as wires and metals.
- Now, we know that I love coffee this First Coffee Blend is a citrus and chocolate flavor made from whole beans Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Sumatra Permata Gayo. It’s a beautiful, rich coffee.
- The Turquoise Medallion Necklace is beaded and handmade by families in Delhi, it is one of the most stunning jewelry pieces that I’ve laid eyes on!
- The Silver Vine Cuff is also from Old Delhi, India and is a beautiful cuff to pair with any outfit.
- Lastly, this Royal Silk Scarf is made from Vietnam’s villagers, they provide a sustainable income by making these scarves.
By purchasing one of these gifts, you are giving back to these artisans and helping them make a sustainable income for their families.
World Vision is constantly giving back and needs many to gather together to make a difference.
If you are interested in any of these gifts and the handcrafted gifts, head on over to World Vision to find more information.
Also, be sure to stay tuned because in December, I’ll be giving each of these items away to a lucky reader!
