Create a beautiful Pink & Gray Room for a Girl with these tips!
This past month has truly gotten away from me. We have been so busy as I’m sure most of us all have been. It’s starting to quiet back down again now for us and it’s nice to just breathe a little and relax. We had such a great Christmas season and now it’s time to reset.
A few weeks before Christmas we celebrated our daughter’s 5th birthday. The past many months she has been talking about everything she wants done to her room for her birthday. She wanted her room redone so we decided to make that her big birthday gift from us. My husband and I conspired for months planning out everything we wanted to do. I basically plan it and then he helps get it all put together and bring my ideas together.
The weekend before her birthday, my mom and I spent all day long painting her room. I picked up the colors from Lowe’s. We used a gray for the walls and a brighter pink for one of the walls as an accent. We ended up carrying that pink color around to her little nook.
This is the before –
There is a random little nook in her room, it’s actually an upper window from the exterior but it’s built up, so it’s a little nook that you have to climb into so that you can get in it. When we originally moved in to this house years ago, I always thought some day that would be the perfect window seat. It was so fun to put this together and see it come to life.
This is the after –
We actually re purposed a ladder that was originally for a bunk bed. For years, we used it as a blanket rack, but we painted it pink and now it’s the ladder that she uses to climb into her little window seat nook. It’s her reading area. I’ll admit our son was pretty jealous of her room. We just redid his for his birthday too, so he wasn’t missing out but he’s the reader in the family and he LOVES this little reading nook.
I’ll admit, I love it too. I want to sit up there and read with some hot chocolate or coffee in hand too.
I picked up her bed and bedding at Walmart along with many of the other accents. I basically spent most of the money in this room at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, & Lowes. We utilized a lot of what we already had too.
A few years ago, we made her a bookcase out of wooden crates and those fit perfect in the room colors so we utilized those again too.
We sent her to my mom’s for the night while we worked hard getting her room ready and she was more than surprised when she came home. We absolutely LOVED doing this for her and it was such a perfect gift for her birthday, something she can really use and enjoy for a long time instead of toys, which in our house don’t seem to last long.
It was sad though to see her little toddler room change into a bigger girl room right before my eyes. It was more signs that our kids are growing up and we really are moving out of the toddler age and into elementary age kids now.
Now, I’m saying it now…the master bedroom is next!
