Gluten Free Snacking with Goldfish Puffs!

For many of us going gluten free is not simply a fad diet trend, it’s a real lifestyle change to help us function like a normal person throughout life without the side effects that come with having either Celiac disease or gluten intolerance. For me, I was at the end of my rope when I decided to try eliminating gluten from my diet. I suffered since childhood with severe stomach problems, it finally peaked to the point that I could hardly function, each day it was everything I could do to just get out of bed in the mornings.
I knew at that point, I had to take some extreme measures. After multiple trips to the doctor along with speaking with friends, I found several with similar issues and for them eliminating gluten worked. At this point being gluten free was not nearly as popular, so there were very few processed snacks and such that I could eat. I decided though it was worth it to give it a try, so I did the two week trial diet. The crazy thing was I felt nearly 100% better after 1-2 days without gluten. It was the first time in over a year that I was not sick.
I felt renewed, like I had my life restored, I know it sounds dramatic but when you feel like you are living between your bed and the bathroom all day, you feel completely new when you can go outside and breathe fresh air again! Ever since that day several years ago, I have not eaten gluten knowingly again. I make things with it on occasion for my family but for myself I do not eat it. I’m actually considering removing it from my son’s diet now too as he is having many of the issues I dealt with as a kid.
In saying this, making the switch to gluten free has become so much more simple with the amount of companies creating gluten free products like these GoldfishⓇ Puffs Gluten-Free from Pepperidge Farm. I was recently able to try this new product and was surprised to find it’s a great little pick me up snack during the day.
These puffs are bursting with flavor and lots and lots of cheese. Of course, they do taste different than the original and look a bit different too but for us that are gluten free, these are a great alternative to the original. I know I was missing being able to eat a few handfuls of those during the day. It’s nice that I can still enjoy these as a little snack throughout the day. These puffs are corn based as opposed to being flour based as many crackers are.
Have you tried Goldfish Puffs yet? They come in a variety of flavors and the fun Goldfish shape too!
Happy Snacking!
