This week I’m sharing a little tip plus a tour around our garden!
This week’s tip: Put a Fence Around It!
That’s right, if you have a pest problem, try building a small fence around the garden. All you need is a few t-post some fencing or chicken wire and some string. Just wrap the fencing around the planted t-post and then use the string to tie them on.
This picture above shows part of our fence, it wraps around the entire garden. It keeps not only the pest out but also our dog, who has a secret fetish for tomatoes!
This is how we keep pest out of our garden, we live behind a green belt so we have all sorts of creatures! Last year our dog killed THREE ground hogs! So, you could just invest in a 100+ lb lab mix and she’ll take care of them for you!
Now for the tour…
My husband planted more okra plants this past week. We realized we eat it so much that we may as well grow more of it. We just finished off last year’s okra that we froze and it was still delicious frozen and cooked a year later! So…more of it went in the ground this past week.
Next up, tomatoes! I love using these for salads, salsa, and all sorts of stews and soups! We are growing cherry tomatoes too. I can eat those like candy!
These are more of our tomato plants, my husband says that he’s pretty sure they are on steroids! I assure you…they are not!
We also planted some squash this year, very easy to grow but be sure not to let it take over your garden. Yes…this happen to us!
Hey there…cucumber, you will make some good pickles someday soon!
Our lettuce has been having issues, this is the little lettuce that could. I hope that we have more lettuce coming up soon because I love fresh salads right from the garden!
We planted the seeds out of a spaghetti squash too because of my recent obsession with them. These should be fully grown in the fall! My taste buds can hardly wait!
Remember my cute garden box? It has some delicious herbs coming up in it!
That completes part of the tour! I’ll share more soon!
