New Year, New Me
As we enter the new year, many things became clear to me one of which was my health. Before I had my son I worked out 5-7x a week. I spent at least a few hours each day at the gym either before or after work. It was how I either started my day or ended it. I had energy, and I was healthy!
Just after finding out I was pregnant, I dropped my gym membership. It was part of the finances that we were cutting to save money for the new baby; however, it was likely one of the worst decisions we made because I lost my motivation to work out as well!
This past year, I joined a gym again; however, I have only been there a few times because I have found I have a very hard time balancing my time well enough to get there during the day. This particular gym does not have childcare so to go to the gym, I have to go during my work day while my son is in preschool. It’s hard for me to give up an hour of prime work time to go to the gym, but that is soon changing!
I am now taking part of the MapMyFitness Quaker Challenge. This challenge is to add 15 fitness activities into your routine over the next 30 days. That’s basically at least 15 days of fitness. I am taking this challenge and using the 3 days a week I have purely devoted to work and taking 1 hour out of each of those days to head to the gym. Then, as weather permits I intend to go on bike rides and walks with my son in the afternoons and get outside.
I have high hopes that getting back in shape will ultimately help me with my energy levels and my daily life. I feel like I am out of energy by the time my son gets home in the afternoon, and I want to be active with him.
Are you up for the challenge?
