In a large bowl, add the apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and flour. Mix well until the apples are fully coated.
Coat a baking dish either 8x6, 9x13, or 8-inch round dish, with nonstick baking spray and pour the apples into the dish. They can be layered on top of each other to fit.
In another bowl, use a pastry cutter to cream together butter, sugar, baking powder, and flour. This will be a small pea-like consistency.
Mix in salt, egg, and milk to make a batter. It will be thick but spreadable.
Using a spoon, lightly spread the batter on top of the apples, it's okay if it does not evenly cover the entire thing. It will rise and expand throughout baking time.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until golden brown on top.
Cool for 5 minutes and serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Use a gluten-free all-purpose flour. The top of the cobbler will be soft but golden brown.Nutritional information does not include ice cream.
