If you are following on Facebook, then you have seen my recent updates, that I am currently looking for more nutritious snacks for my toddler.
One of the things he loves to eat are muffins, plus they are an easy grab and go item! I used my Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins as a base recipe for these with a few minor changes.
Whole Wheat Apple Muffins
- 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 1/2 Cup Applesauce
- 1/3 Cup Cooking Oats
- 1 Egg
- 3/4 Cup Milk
- Chocolate Chips Optional
- Begin by mixing the milk, egg, and vanilla then slowly stir in all remaining ingredients until mixed well.
- Spray the muffin pans with non stick cooking spray and add a tablespoonful of the batter to each. This recipe made 1 1/2 dozen muffins for us.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the muffin comes out clean.

I decided to top ours with a few chocolate chips. Using the Whole Wheat flour is a great way to add additional nutrition for your growing toddlers!
