One of our absolute favorites around here is Taco Salad or Tacos! Basically, I can guarantee everyone will eat dinner on the night we have these two items. So, why not make it a party friendly food? It’s ALWAYS loved by all, so it deserves to be on the menu for parties especially when they include football.
Right now, I’ve fallen in love with the Old El Paso Flour Tortilla Boats that are basically like a small bowl that can easily hold taco salad, then you can carry around your little Taco Salad Boat right in your hand while cheering or booing on your team! Now these are called boats not bowls because they aren’t round like a bowl, it’s more of a boat shape.
Now, we have a certain way that we like our taco salad, we prefer it topped with Catalina Dressing and when my daughter doesn’t eat all the black olives, we toss those on too! All you need to do is warm up the tortilla boats in oven for a few minutes and then top them with your salad ingredients. The other bonus is this is very easy to customize. We like to serve these as a Taco Salad Bar and let guests grab the tortilla boats and fill them with the toppings they prefer, it makes it easy for everyone to enjoy them. Then, of course for those gluten-free like myself and my son, we just use a corn taco shell instead and eat some tacos. We also added some Old El Paso Refried Beans to them too!
Regardless of the method…it’s perfection for game day.
We picked up all of our ingredients at Walmart and love mixing a little fresh food with homemade. I paired some lettuce and tomatoes along with it. Then, of course you can use garden fresh lettuce and tomatoes too. I also used Old El Paso Taco Seasoning and set out a jar of the Old El Paso Chilies too. We use both of those regularly, I’ll just mention that I love that they have a gluten-free seasoning too. It’s perfect!
Are you ready for game day this year? It’s time to load up your party guests with these Taco Salad Boats. I am certain they will be a hit!
