I have become addicted to salads lately, maybe it’s because when I eat out and am not sure about gluten free items, I go with a salad. I am a very picky salad eater though, I want variety in my salad. I also like it to be colorful and have some meat added. I lack protein in my diet, so meat is a must in my salad.
One of my all time favorite salads that I look forward to each year is Panera’s Strawberry Poppyseed Salad. I know that the workers at my local Panera probably dread when I walk in because I love this salad; however, I actually prefer the dressing that is on the Fuji Apple Salad. So, I order this Strawberry Poppyseed Salad minus the Poppyseed and the Pecans because I’m allergic to those.
About a month ago, I ordered it and then the friend I was with said something about me being pregnant, to which the worker said “Oh, now I know why you are being picky”. Nope…I like it like that even without the pregnant part! I just smiled and said “Yes, you are right” (fingers crossed being my back).
Now, although I love this salad so much, I also enjoy making it at home with fresh fruits and veggies from our garden and the farmers markets. We have an abundance of lettuce this year, so I knew I would be using it for this salad. I enjoy it with a variety of dressing. The local grocery stores do have poppyseed dressing; however, I also like it with raspberry dressing. Maybe I just like variety!
The recipe card today is going to be for all those that may not have had the luxury of trying this delicious salad yet and wonder what is in the salad? I left off the amounts since it will vary based on the amount of salad you are making.
This is perfect for a light lunch or dinner party!
