It’s that time of year when the weather changes and the doctor’s visits seem to increase, that means staying on top of Cold & Flu Season and stock up at Sam’s Club.
It was is downright cold here in Oklahoma, last week we were topping out at 60* and this week it’s 27* and dropping. I have to say that brings in the runny noses with it. I know it’s cold across the country, but a more gradual dip would be nice instead of the sudden drop. It’s that time of year too when I don’t want to leave the house, just walking to the car is bad enough. I want to just stay inside with the fire going and hibernate. If only we could…right?
Just this week, my daughter’s preschool class has had several out sick with cold & flu and now her nose is running too. Her birthday party is this weekend, so I definitely want to keep that nasty sickness away. The key is to stay on top of it by stocking up the medicine cabinet early. There is really nothing worse than realizing in the middle of the night that you are out of cold and flu medicine. That’s just no fun at all! So, this week my daughter and I headed to Sam’s Club to stock up on a few necessities.
The top of my list is always Lysol Wipes and Spray, I get a little carried away and spray and wipe EVERYTHING when someone is sick in our home, especially the little ones, tend to spread germs like wildfire. Thankfully you can kill germs with Lysol immediately. Then, I also stock up on vitamins because the best way to avoid getting sick is to prevent it from ever spreading inside you. That means taking vitamins regularly. Then, of course I also stock up on Mucinex and a variety of cold products to tackle the sickness if and when it does come for an unwanted visit. It’s simple to relieve symptoms and cough with Mucinex and Delsym that’s why we keep it on hand!
Now, for us the key is to clean out and stock up in our medicine cabinet. I tend to forget what medicine is in there so each year at this time of year, we do a clean out. Once we clean it out, we also refill it with the go-to medicines. I like to store lots of cough drops in a mason jar too, which you can grab a huge bag of them at Sam’s Club too. We stocked up on those while we were there as well. I also put all my medicine in baskets, even better you can organize by sickness. There could be a cold & flu basket and then also a basket for each family member with their daily medicines if those are needed too. It’s a great time of year to get the cabinet organized.
Right now, you can stock up on all your medicines that you need for cold & flu season at Sam’s Club, plus you can get discounts for being a member. I prefer to stop there for these so that I don’t have to go back to the store again to get more, hopefully the entire season! Stay well and be sure to be prepared as we usher in cold & flu season along with those colder temperatures!
