I decided to start something new with the gardening post!
As most of you know, we are gardening. I say ‘we’ but really it’s ALL my husband. I don’t like messing with dirt, I like eating and cooking what comes out of it though!
We are beginners just like many of you and are constantly looking for ways to make our garden better. So, as we learn together, each week my husband is going to share a new tip that he has learned or a project he is doing in the garden!
Yep, my gardening man is taking over the blog!
This week it’s going to be all about manure! Oh yes, you remember my story about being covered in manure? That’s it! It’s all about cow manure!
Keep in mind my husband had to have this little, short video retaken over and over again because he couldn’t make it through it with out laughing! Enjoy this tip from my hunk of a husband. Yep…I won’t lie, he’s a good looking man, and I’m thrilled he’s my garden boy.
So, what do you think? Do you use manure?
Pick up some cow manure and compost at your local gardening store!
One thing is…it doesn’t smell, so it isn’t what you think. It’s the consistency of potting soil.
If you have any tips or suggestions, let us know!
Stay tuned as next week my gardening man build me a herb garden box for all of my favorite herbs to use in recipes this season!

Yes, we use manure. And I do mean ‘WE’ because I was the one who last spread the 12 bags I bought in the garden beds to prep them. Also I use manure around my growing plants after they’ve started to bloom. It’s natural nitrogen.
lol So cute! LOVE that you are getting him involved!!
Mix the compost with some vermiculite and some peat moss. It will work great and be loose enough to allow the plants to grow. Every year thereafter, add some more compost (nothing else) and it will last for a very long time! I make my own compost from our kitchen scraps, chickens, goats, and cows. Nothing is better than making your own! Black gold! 😉
