Are you hosting a cookout this year? We will be spending the 4th of July weekend at the lake, actually several days there. This year we are camping out for the weekend. One thing that we cook regularly at the lake are hot dogs. They are simple to fix and a win for the entire family including the kids. I thought though, I would spice ours up with Mezzetta Peppers and use spicy sausages instead to throw a little twist into the routine.
Now, when purchasing the right peppers for these smoked sausages, it is important to get the best. Mezzetta Peppers are the #1 jarred peppers in the U.S, they harvest at the peak ripeness from local farmers around the world. That means they have the best quality of jarred peppers. I decided to pick up the Deli-Sliced Peperoncini to stuff the smoked sausages with. I love eating these on sandwiches and burgers too, so if you are having a cookout, they are certainly a must have.
Now, if you really love spicy food then pick up a package of spicy sausage to grill. Once these are grilled, I simply cut them down the center, just enough to pull open a bit but not all the way through. I put them in a hot dog bun that was cut open at the top, topped them with onions and peppers, sprinkled a little cheese on top, and placed them right back on the grill. They will grill for just a few minutes to melt the cheese.
Once they come of the grill you have a warm delicious sausage dog that is bursting with flavor. These have become a favorite for our cookouts and especially when we are at the lake. We can setup camp just about anywhere on a beach in a cove and make these.
Now, are you ready for this though? Right now, you could win a BRAND NEW Weber Grill from Mezzetta as part of their Bold, Bright Summer Giveaway! I would love to see one of you win so head over HERE now to enter!
