Slow Cooker Rosemary Chicken and Potatoes make a quick, simple, and delicious dinner!
I have a confession to make, I am addicted to Rosemary! I love the smell and being that I’m pregnant that’s a huge plus!
So, when I looked in my freezer to find chicken drumsticks and in my fridge to see new potatoes and lemon plus rosemary in my pantry, I knew I was on to something!
These Slow Cooker Rosemary Chicken and Potatoes are a delicious way to do dinner in a pinch.
Lately, we have been so busy. Is it that way for you? I feel like that’s basically the story of our lives at this point. I am just starting to realize how hard it is to really get dinner on the table now that both my kids are in activities.
I originally posted this recipe back in 2012, it’s fun to read back on what I had wrote then with it too. My daughter was still a bun in the oven then and now she’s 5! She’s about to start Kindergarten this next year.
I just enrolled her last week. That was more emotional than what I expected. It seems like when they start elementary the years just start passing by.
When this was originally posted, my son was just about to start Pre-K and now he’s in 3rd grade!
How to Make Slow Cooker Rosemary Chicken & Potatoes
Let’s get back to this meal, it’s similar to a pantry style meal. I almost always have everything I need for this on hand. If you prefer a crispier chicken, you can lightly brown the chicken in a skillet before adding to the slow cooker.
If you are like me though, I like to just put it all in and let the slow cooker do all the work.
I typically will add some green beans to this as well for a little more veggies, but you can also serve it as is or with a salad.

This is one of my most favorite meals ever. Lawd it looks so gooooood.
I’m going to try this. I can’t stand the texture of chicken that cooks submerged in liquid. Thanks!
Great information. Lucky me I came across your blog by accident (stumbleupon).
I have book marked it for later!
Can I cook this a little faster in my crockpot? would 4 hours be ok? Want to make this tonight but just got back from the store with the chicken. HELP!
Yes, you could do it on high for 4 hours. Just be sure your chicken is done before eating but typically with crock pot meals you just cook on high and you can do it in 1/2 the time.
Thanks!!
Could I cook this a little faster, say 3-4 hours on high? Want to make it tonight but just got back from the store with the chicken. HELP!
Are the potatoes mushy after 8 hours?? Thinking of putting them in at 4 hours. Thanks! Looks yummy and I have all the ingredients! 🙂
I didn’t think they were, but they are very soft. You could def probably put them in at 4 hours too!
Do Yu use water
I didn’t, but you can use about 1/2 cup of broth or water to help with avoiding dry out if that’s a concern.
If i want to make this good looking chicken for a crowd, say 30 legs, can i make it without potatoes ans just put all the chicken legs in the 5 quart crack pot and adjust the seasonings?

Is there really no salt or seasoning for the chicken?
I use rosemary, oregano, and garlic put on top of it when it’s in the slow Cooker. You can always add salt if you prefer. My family rarely ever uses salt but you can always add it regular salt or garlic salt if preferred.
Can I swap sweet fries for red potatoes with the same cooking time?
I haven’t done them with sweet potatoes, but I do believe the same cooking times would apply.
Sweet potatoes**
Delicioso! I rarely eat meat, and the meat I do eat I try to make sure is humanely raised. Humanely raised drumsticks from Whole Foods are not expensive so I thought I’d give this recipe a try.
It’s also rare that I cook ANYthing, but I’ve made this recipe four times since I happened upon it a few months ago. I love rosemary and add fresh rosemary from my garden to the dried rosemary in the recipe to make this truly rosemarylicious.
It’s so easy and makes a nice dish to bring to an ailing friend or neighbor. Thank you!
So glad you are enjoying it!!
