Make an easy dinner with Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing, this recipe is easy to make gluten-free if needed, plus it’s simple!
This recipe hit our menu way back in 2012, that’s right…YEARS ago. It was one that came from an old cookbook that my mom had and I was immediately intrigued, plus it only uses 5 ingredients that are likely to be in your pantry and one of them is water.
Does it get any easier?
How do you make Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing?
Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing takes the best of holiday dinners and puts them in one dish in the slow cooker.
If you do not like your food to touch, just move on to this Air Fryer Turkey Breast because this is not for you.
Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing is all about mixing the food together, taking all those great comfort foods and making it into a one-dish dinner.
Once the Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing is done, you have a big plate of comfort food to enjoy for dinner.
Should you use chicken breast or chicken thighs for Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing?
I would use chicken thighs for this meal, skinless and boneless. Chicken breast has a tendency to dry out rather quickly, although you can use it for this, the best flavor will come from chicken thighs.
Chicken thighs have a juicer flavor and texture, they just shred apart after slow cooking with the other ingredients, making them a great choice for this meal.
How do you make Gluten-Free Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing?
There are two ingredients that will need to be adapted to make this gluten-free. The first one is stuffing. It’s important to use a gluten-free stuffing. We prefer this gluten-free stuffing from Aldi.
During the holiday season, I usually stock up on several boxes of gluten-free stuffing from Aldi to keep throughout the year for meals such as this.
It can also be made with any of your favorite boxed gluten-free stuffings.
The next swap needs to be the gravy. This 5 Minute Gluten-Free Gravy is the BEST one that I have found and it’s so easy to make, I suggest it even if you do not need gluten-free.
It’s much better than the canned or jarred versions.
If you use this gravy recipe, you will use the entire amount of gravy you make to pour over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
Can you make Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing in the Ninja Foodi?
Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing can easily be made in the Ninja Foodi using the slow cooker function. If you prefer, you can also use this glass lid for the Ninja Foodi too.
It’s easy to use just as you would a slow cooker.
This can also be done using the pressure cooker function, I will be sharing that version as well. This makes a great Ninja Foodi Recipe.
Now that you have all the tools to make this recipe, it’s time to enjoy this delicious Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing tonight!

Can you make this with fresh green beans?
I haven’t tried it with fresh, but I do think it would work.
Thanks!
Hi-this looks yummy! Do you have the Instapot cooking instructions available? I didn’t have time to do the slow cooker version before work and but would really like this for dinner tonight 🙂
Hi there, you’d make it like this – https://www.mommyhatescooking.com/ninja-foodi-chicken-and-stuffing-pressure-cooker
Can you cook this on a high heat for less time? Thanks x
You could do 4 hours on high.
Can you use frozen chicken?
I’ve always thawed it first, so you could possibly but I haven’t tried it with frozen.
Could you use left over holiday turkey? I may try it this week if turkey is an option.
Can you use left over holiday turkey?
Thanks
Yes, you can do that.
Was I suppose to use boneless skinless chicken thighs? I know the recipe calls for chicken breast that have no skin on them. But it doesn’t say the same thing for the thighs. I have a big crockpot of mush.
Boneless, Skinless chicken breast or chicken thighs, either choice would need to be boneless and skinless. The chicken would be underneath the stuffing and easy to shred.
My stuffing is mush! Did I do something wrong?
It shouldn’t have, it does turn to soft stuffing but with a similar consistency to stove cooked stuffing.
A question: my daughter remembers liking a recipe I used to make with cream o’ mushroom soup (a GF brand). Would I be able to make this recipe but substitute cream o’ mushroom for the gravy? I realize it wouldn’t taste as much like Thanksgiving, but maybe OK for an ordinary night??
You could try that, I haven’t don it though so I’m not entirely sure how the taste will end up but it may work just fine.
