It’s time to prepare for the big game and that means lots of fun foods like these Sloppy Joe Taco Boats.
This post is written in partnership with Acorn Influence, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s almost time for the big game, of course, we’ve already been watching all the college games these days too, so we are just getting a head start.
My son just finished a book about football, so now he’s anxious to watch the big game together. He’s already asking us questions and wanted to write it down on the calendar too. I thought it was so funny to see him getting so excited about football right along with my husband.
How do you make Sloppy Joe Taco Boats?
How does the big game day go at your house? At our house, it’s all about the food at least for me because I’m in charge of it! My husband just expects there is going to be a great array of snacks for game day. Honestly, I don’t blame him either, there should be.
I remember growing up, my family wasn’t really all that into football but a friend across the street their family was.
They ALWAYS had game day parties and so many amazing foods, I think I probably begged to go over there just to eat. That’s probably sad but seriously, I’m perfectly content now to admit that the food was by far the best part, they had all sorts of delicious treats.
Now, one thing that I love to do is make portable or on-the-go snacks because how many times do you watch a game and sit down the entire time?
Not likely, right? I decided to make these tasty Sloppy Joe Taco Boats using Old El Paso Taco Boats. These have become a family favorite in our home, you can easily build just about anything in them and then eat them immediately, skip the plate entirely! It’s also easy to pick up all your ingredients at Walmart too.
I don’t know about you but I’m loving the Walmart grocery pick up and they ALWAYS have our favorite Old El Paso products available online or in-store!
We’ve used these quite a bit lately, my kids love to eat them too so it’s definitely a win all around. This time though I decided to add a little bit of sloppy joe meat to them too.
In terms of meat, you can use any type of ground meat you would like, we decided to use Ground Turkey. I mixed the meat up with taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and onions.
Once it was nicely mixed, simply build your taco boat, then eat! I love that they are handheld and instead of the usual taco, the majority of the toppings stay nicely tucked into the taco boat instead of all over the floor.
That means that when you jump up out of your chair to either scream at the TV…face it, we all do it…or cheer on your favorite team, you can rest assured your taco boat will still be nicely put together!
I guess you could always end up throwing it at the TV, but let’s just not mention that, right? We’ll all just go with the idea that our team will win.
Are you ready for the big game? What do you plan to serve?

Enjoy!

Mmmm all those yummy tomatoes! I have learned to live with a lot less cheese too. These look perfect. I need to make them soon!
You never fail to come up with such amazing recipes! This one for sure does not only look tasty but it also looks so appetizing 😀 This would be a great snack for the boys when they come over
OMG, flour tortilla taco boats from Ortega? I’m so going to look for these the next time I’m in the grocery store. Love how you used them for Sloppy Joe’s. Definitely cuts down on the mess.
First of all! Thank you for helping me to figure out what I’m going to make tonight. I didn’t know Ortega made these boats but my kids would love them. Thank you so much for the recipe.
