Lighting is something we may not always think about each day; however, we should. Why? Changing a simple light bulb could save you $$$ each year. Don’t we all love saving money? I know I do! Of course, then I always find something else I should use it for, when I probably should just SAVE it! Did you know that GE makes super bright LEDs that work better than a traditional light bulb and they last up to 13.7 years! Let that sink in for a minute. By the time these light bulbs go out, my son will be graduating high school.
That is just crazy, friends. Crazy!
My husband and I have been in the process for a while of changing out light bulbs to more energy efficient bulbs; however as we were in this process at our old house, we moved! Now, we are starting back from square one again changing them over. We were lucky that a few in our new house were already energy efficient bulbs, so a lot of the changing over consist of some of the older light fixtures that likely do not get used as much as a table lamp would.
I headed to Sam’s Club this past week and picked up several of the GE Energy Smart LED light bulbs. I love checking out the savings calculator to figure up just how much we will save each year.
Another feature I love about these lights is the dimming feature, that is a nice quality that not all bulbs have.
I decided to start changing over the bulbs in the front of the house and work my way around. I can easily pick up a couple each time I’m at Sam’s Club and slowly but surely replace all the bulbs in my house. The best part? I will not be replacing them again for YEARS.
The first stop was the dining room, I quickly changed out the bulbs in our light fixture and they were actually even brighter and better light than what we previously had which were the standard incandescent bulbs.
The LED light bulbs are considerably heavier than a traditional light bulb. That was the first thing I noticed when I picked it up. They also seem much more sturdy and not as likely to break or bust.
These lights boast an $80 savings at least on your bills each month because of the 80% efficient, obviously this will vary depending on an average bill. If I could save $80 a month do you know how many pedicures that is? Or coffee? Yes, I know…savings…that’s what it is, to SAVE!
Not only do the LED lights work indoors but there are also outdoor options too including flood lights, which I tend to leave on by accident a lot outside, so these will be soon featured on our porch. I also plan to add the LED lights to our front porch lights because again, I’m forgetful. I mean, I only have to get myself and the kids dressed and ready, fed, lunches packed, and out the door for school every morning, why on earth would I forget anything?
Are you ready to make the switch? I know we are beyond ready! Be sure to start off by printing a coupon for your purchase at Sam’s Club. Find out more about these GE LED Energy Smart lights on their website, Facebook, or Twitter at #LEDSavings!
Happy Savings!

That’s a great way to “christen” a new home…making it brighter yet more energy efficient!
I didn’t think Sam’s took manufacturer coupons, have I been missing out?
You know what? I didn’t think so either until this. I’m going to double check again just to be sure I’m not missing something either! I will let you know.
I’m always trying to find ways to spend the money I’ve saved too! Last year we made the switch in our home with GE Energy Smart bulbs and have loved comparing out bills to the previous year. Now if only we could save it for a rainy day… #client
