It’s that time of year again when chili is brewing on stove tops and in slow cookers across the country! I will admit it’s my favorite time of year, I love for the time of year when chili is on the menu again!
I thought this week I would show how we re-purpose our Slow Cooker Chili. At our house, only my husband and I eat the chili so we have a lot of leftover chili. If we are not in the mood for chili all throughout the week then I simply freeze the leftovers. When I’m ready to either make chili again or re-purpose it I toss it back in the slow cooker for about 3-4 hours on low and let it heat back up. It taste just as delicious as it did the first time!
Let’s get on to some way to re-purpose chili!
Day 1: Slow Cooker Chili – Start Day 1 by making a big batch of Slow Cooker Chili!
Day 2: 3 Way Chili – The next day I like to make 3 Way Chili with a batch of Spaghetti. There are many varations of this recipe so it can be easily made with your own variation to it.
Day 3: Slow Cooker Chili Dogs – Another way to re-purpose chili is to warm up a few hot dogs in the slow cooker then top them with delicious chili!
Day 4: Chili Cheese Spuds – A great way to mix up some chili is to top it over a spud. If you want to make these restaurant style, simply make it with 2 spuds together to make one giant spud topped with chili and cheese! This is one of my favorite meals at a local restaurant in our area.
Day 5: Chili Cheese Tater Tot Casserole – Another one of our favorite ways to eat leftover chili is to make Chili Cheese Tater Tot Casserole! Not only is this easy and delicious but you can even make enough to freeze one and have for later! That gives you another meal that will cut down on time and save you money in the long run.
A few other ideas to reuse chili are on top of chili nachos or chili macaroni casserole! There are also several varieties you can make such as Taco Chili and Slow Cooker Pumpkin Chili.
The re-purposing of chili is virtually endless, and I know in my house we plan to make a lot of chili this year!
