It’s time for another week of menu planning! How do you menu plan? Do you have a certain way you do it each week? Do you menu plan by month?
Let us know some of your tips!
I typically menu plan by month then I break it down week by week as I go grocery shopping. I also adjust based on sales for the week too!
I am stocking up on pumpkin and have my tomatoes ready for some delicious batches of soup, stew, and chili! This is generally the time of the year when my slow cooker is getting a major workout!

I menu plan for the month by typing in each day’s dinner plan onto a monthly calendar and printing it out. It is then stuck onto the front of the fridge. I pull out the freezer stuff to defrost in the fridge and usually buy the few odds and ends I need for the month’s menu when out shopping. Since I stockpile our basics when I find them at their lowest prices, I usually have what I need here already. We also do not eat much in way of processed boxed foods, so I make most everything from scratch and cook about 97% of the time here. I didn’t use to do the menu planning this way. But, once we had our son and I became a stay-at-home Mom it helped me to be sure we had a wholesome dinner each day for a mere fraction what it would cost us to eat out. It has also helped us lose weight and get a ton healthier by always eating at home. And since I really enjoy recipes and cooking at home, it’s a fun hobby for me. It took me awhile, but I figured out how to make it work for us.
That’s awesome!! I think it’s all about finding what way works best for each individual! Isn’t it amazing what it can do for weight too? When I started this site I lost a ton of weight just by cutting out all the processed foods and cooking everything myself!
