Stay fueled during the day with a Protein-Packed Snack Mix!
This post has been sponsored by Jack Link’s. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
During the summer months, we tend to live at the pool. We joined a pool this year nearby and literally, we are there every single day. The thing is though, we still need some protein-packed snacks to go along with staying hydrated in this summer heat!
That’s exactly why I added Jack Link’s® Original Beef Jerky to our Protein Packed Snack Mix. It gives a great savory flavor, plus the protein, too.
On pool days, we swing by Dollar General, which happens to be right next to our pool, and pick up Jack Link’s Protein Snacks
to add to our snack mix. It’s easy to make on the go or at home and store in an airtight container.
I even found the best little containers for snacks at Dollar General as well. We use them all the time now.
How do you help literacy with your purchase?
Jack Link’s is actually making a donation to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation with every purchase. The DG Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $168 million in grants which are helping more than 10 million individuals learn to read and prepare for high school, plus learn English, too!
Where can you find Jack Link’s Protein Snacks to make a snack mix?
Jack Link’s Protein Snacks are easy to find at Dollar General near the nuts and snacks aisle. We ended up picking up some peanuts and sunflower kernels to go in our snack mix, too, right near the Jack Link’s.
What varieties of Jack Link’s Beef Jerky are available at Dollar General?
- Jack Link’s® Original Beef Jerky
- Jack Link’s® Teriyaki Beef Jerky
- Jack Link’s® Peppered Beef Jerky
Each of these makes for a great variety of snack mixes, too. My family prefers original because that one works the best for my kids, however, we also like to mix it up with the others as well.
How do you make Protein Packed Snack Mix?
This snack mix is a great choice to take to the pool or on the go. We pack it right inside our pool back, if it’s going to be exceptionally warm out, I’ll put it inside our cooler bag.
We make our snack mix with these items:
- Jack Link’s® Original Beef Jerky
- Pretzels
- Honey Roasted Peanuts
- Sunflower Kernels
- Chocolate Covered Raisins
Once we have all of our ingredients, it’s simply a mix and pack process. I use the small snack containers to divide it up and it normally fits well into 4 of the small snack containers; plastic sandwich bags work fine as well.
Remember, though, that if it’s going to be warm to store it in a cool place to keep the chocolate from melting. We like to add in the chocolate though for the sweet taste, which compliments the salty well.
Once we have our snack mix ready to go, it’s time for the pool! I have to say, now that our kids are getting older, pool days are so relaxing. It’s nice when they start to play with friends and you get a few minutes to enjoy the sun and a good book!
Be sure to stop by Dollar General to pick up the Jack Link’s Protein Snack of your choice and by doing so, you’ll be giving back to the DG Literacy Foundation!
