Today’s Pinterest Project is reorganizing the pantry. I loved this idea to have the food in baskets and it’s similar to the guest post about having dinner baskets by Unorganized Mommy. I set out recently to organize my pantry with a few of the old bins that I had used in another room for a while. I do find it funny that there appears to be apples on the floor in this pantry. Can we say bugs? I’ll just hope they are fake.
My pantry is not a walk in pantry as this appears to be but the shelves are setup the same way. I really like the idea of having the cookbooks on the shelves in the kitchen; however, for us currently they will not fit there. We are about to embark on a kitchen remodel/redecorating where I will be reorganizing the cabinets, so I am hoping to setup and area for all my cookbooks that is out of my toddler’s reach.
Now, the one issue I have with my pantry is that I can organize it and the next day it is a mess again. Not because of me but because of little fingers…he likes to reorganize it for me. If he can’t reach one of the shelves he’ll go find his toy buckets or a chair and make certain that he can.
This is the before picture:
I had obviously just arranged the canned goods because normally this is my son’s favorite thing to play with and reorganize.
The After:
As you can see it isn’t as pretty as the picture. I need to invest in more boxes, and my canned goods were rearranged again, but it’s getting there. I have to say coming from a house that had no pantry, I’m just happy to have a pantry!
Happy reorganizing!

The thing to remember is that they build the pantry to make the picture and you have to actually use yours! Plus, there is nothing more fun then rearranging the pantry because you realized the hard way that the open bread crumbs that you kept at the bottom are fun for a 2 year old to open and dump all over the floor (words from experience). I can’t even put the cans at the bottom because mine likes to drop them on the nice wood floor that we had put in before he came along and dent it!!! Plus, I would never be able to reach the cookbooks if they were that high 🙂 I need to pull out everything and rearrange my pantry but it never makes the to do list! Thanks for the ideas 🙂
I feel you! My son will not leave the cans alone all of the sudden. He likes to rip off the labels and make it impossible for me to figure out what was in them!!
