I was ask this past week to test Peet’s Coffee, I have to admit my first thought was what is it? I had never heard of it as we do not have Peet’s Coffee in my area. I am a coffee lover though so I was more than happy to test it out. I was sent two different flavors of coffee one was supposedly lively and one was smooth. I went for the lively one of course.
The day before the coffee arrived, my husband made the comment to me that he had not seen me reading lately. I am a bookworm, and I used to be up late at night reading a book start to finish. Nowadays, I’m up late at night working, so I simply have not had time to read. He continued to tell me how I need to get back to reading again as an outlet from doing work all the time, probably the best idea he has ever had!
I took him up on it and took a little bit of time this week to enjoy a cup of iced Peet’s Coffee and a good book.
I grabbed a stack of books to choose from all of which I have read in the past but it has been a while, it was time to re-read. Then, I opened up True Believer by Nicholas Sparks to find this note and memories started to flood my mind.
My husband proposed to me with this book and I hate to say I forgot…but I forgot! I knew obviously he proposed to me with a Nicholas Sparks book, but I could not for the life of me remember which one. Of course if you propose with a book, it must be signed by the author.
I can tell you, I actually was not thrilled to receive this book. I had a sneaky suspicion my then boyfriend would be proposing to me on this particular day. He threw a ‘surprise’ graduation party for me and no proposal. Then, he took me to the lake that night, and as I was trying to eat a piece of cake while we watched the sunset in the back of his 1980 Custom Deluxe Chevy…he forced me to put it down because he wanted to give me a gift. When I opened the gift I saw this book. My first thought was…’where is the ring?’ I just knew he was going to propose…but no ring. At this point, I had decided I was horribly wrong and I better put a smile on my face because this was not the day.
Then, he fooled me…He knew that I would look through the book as I always do when I’m buying one. When I started to flip through the pages, little notes fell out of the book. Each one said “Will you marry me?”….next thing I knew he was on one knee with the ring in the back of his rickety truck. Perfectly planned proposal just as the sun was setting off the lake, and I was totally surprised.
In saying all that…this was definitely the book of choice on my relaxing time to myself to re-read. I had not read it since we got engaged over 6 years ago.
My coffee was done brewing just in time for me to finish my rush of memories. I topped it with my favorite Pumpkin Spice creamer and out to the front porch I went.
I am an avid ICED coffee drinker. Peet’s Coffee was rich and subtle with flavor that complimented my creamer well. It was perfect for a crisp, fall day.
Now, I could get used to this, Peet’s Coffee and a wonderful book…the perfect day.

I absolutely love that your husband knows you well enought to nitice that you haven’t been taking time out for your self to read a book. It says alot about your relationship. And the fact that he proposed with a book? …SWOON!
